"The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 29 October 2013": "Eastbrook - Norma Foster Giles Bragdon passed away Oct. 27, 2013, at Golden Acres in Franklin following a long illness. She was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Franklin, the daughter of Francis and Neva (Linscott) Giles. Norma grew up at Georges Pond in Franklin. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1946. In 1947, Norma married George H. Bragdon of Eastbrook, where they lived together and raised their three children. Norma devoted her life to her family and community. She was active with the DAV, the Garden Club, the Ladies Aid and the Eastbrook Grange. There was never a Saturday night bean supper without one of Normas pies. She was a protective and supportive champion of her children and grandchildren. In their retirement years, Norma and George enjoyed numerous trips around the country. They especially enjoyed Las Vegas, the Bluenose Ferry and their special trip to Ireland. For the past several years, Norma resided at Golden Acres in Franklin, where she received not only care but love from the dedicated staff. A special thank you to Mary Crocker, who always made her laugh. Norma is survived by her children, Skye Lavoie and her husband, Thomas, of Otis, Susan Hart and her husband, Thomas, of Eastbrook, Martin Bragdon and his wife, Michelle, of Mount Vernon, and her stepson, Theo Bragdon of Bradford. Norma is survived by her six grandchildren, Scott Grindle and his wife, LeAnne, and Spencer Grindle and his wife, Heather, of Ellsworth, Thomas Hart Jr. of Ellsworth, Janet Hart-Leclerc of Eastbrook, Alisha Tilton and her husband, Casey, of Oakland, and George Bragdon of Mount Vernon. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Mason Grindle, Isabel Grindle, Riley Grindle, Brielle Grindle, Madeline Hart, Lydia Hart, Ethan Leclerc, Nolan Leclerc, Kellee Tilton and Lane Tilton. Norma is survived, as well, by her sister, Margaret Hunt of Franklin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George; her three brothers, Richard Giles, Robert Giles, Paul Giles; and a special niece, Helen Lymburner."

Stafford, age 91, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 24, 2015 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a short illness. Bill was an only child to parents Samuel Heichel and Rhea Catherine Sheriff Stafford born on August 28, 1924 in Ashland, Ohio. He graduated from Hayesville High School in 1942 and later married his high school sweetheart, Maxine Elizabeth McGuire on April 19, 1947. After graduation, Bill worked on the farm for two years prior to enlisting in the Army and served World War II in the 333rd Regiment of the 84th Infantry Division. Earning the rank of Sergeant, he received multiple awards including the Bronze Star and three Battle Stars. He served in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe and was on the Elbe River on V-E day. He was a 65 member of the American Legion in honor of his service. Bill returned home from the war in 1946 and began a 39 year career at National Seating Company in Mansfield working as an upholsterer and inspector. Bill was a community leader, being a charter member of the Mifflin (Ashland Co.) Fire Department for 60 years, Township Clerk for 44 years, and most recently a committee member for the Mifflin Memories book, published in 2005. He also was instrumental in having the water trough and jail restored as an Ohio Historical Marker in Mifflin, Ohio in 2011. He was known as a Mifflin historian. A Lutheran all his life, he was last a member of Ashland Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and volunteer. Bill was a man of integrity, strong will, and commitment for doing the right thing. You never wondered where Bill stood on a particular issue. Through the years, he was a role model to family and friends for his strong work ethic. He loved the outdoors, working in the yard, and hunting mushrooms and small game. He kept his mind sharp through daily crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and keeping up with current events. He even mastered the IPad to email and Facetime his grandchildren and to google at the young age of 89. Bill and Maxine traveled 46 states and Europe over his lifetime. They discovered multiple national parks and historical sites, including the WWII Monument. Bill leaves to cherish in his memory his loving wife, Maxine Stafford; daughters, Marilyn (Glenn) Frank, Beverly Darr, and Pam (Gary) Crawford; and grandchildren, David (Cori) Darr, Sarah (Jim) Shepherd, Scott (Lindsey) Frank, Matt (Kristi) Darr, Tiffany (Nick) Dunlap; and step grandchildren, Brian (Chantel) Crawford. Brandon Crawford, and Bruce (Tabitha) Crawford. His extended family includes six great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren."
