[29119] George's obituary is The Bangor Daily News 16 March 2009: "George P. Milner Jr., 76, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 22, 1932, the son of George P. Milner Sr. and Rita B. (Lambert) Milner. George loved to bowl. He was a member of the local, state and national Bowling Halls of Fame. George was the president of the N.E.M.T.P.B.A. and Maine State Bowling Association. He belonged to several bowling travel leagues and considered Family Fun Bowling Center a second home. George was a member of American Legion Post No. 12, Bangor, and Maine Troop Greeters. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 1/2 years, Debra (Muns) Milner; stepmother, Mary Milner; sons, Michael and wife, Laura, of Waynesville, Mo., Richard and wife, Shelby, of Conway, S.C., David and wife, Karin, of Albany, Ga., and Edgar Sanborn II of Germany; daughters, Patricia Allen of Bangor, Yvonne Ehman of Belfast, Ann Sanborn of Frankfort and Monica Cilley and husband, James, of Easton; sister, Karen Grant of Columbia Falls; 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Joseph Mizda. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Milner; and his sister, Diane Borda. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, with the Rev. Kathy Macedo, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be afterward at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor."

[27076] This person is NOT verified, but is as offered in One World Tree on Ancestry.com which provides a line of descent from Jacob. Jacob is apaprently the person in the 1900 federal census in Oskaloosa Twp., Jefferson Co., KS who is age 37, b. in March 1863 in IL, with wife Sarah B. (age 36, b. in KS) and children. He and family appear again in the 1910 and 1930 censuses there.
[520] "Staples is an Irish surname and the families bearing it in that country are wealthy and distinguished. ...Peter Staples, Jr., of Kittery, made his will June 6, 1718, `being aged', mentioned wife, Elizabeth, and sons Peter, John, and James." - "Saco Valley Settlements and Families...," G.T.Ridlon, Sr., published privately at Portland, ME, 1895, p. 1159. Peter, Thomas and another brother (Christian?) arrived at Kittery in 1671. Stearns' "Genealogical and Family History of the State of New Hampshire" (2:600) reports that Peter purchased land on Long Reach from Thomas Turner 4 July 1674. This land was deeded by Peter and Elizabeth to their son, Peter, 1694. Peter's will was probated 7 April 1719 (Maine Wills, p. 215-6, York Probate 3,14 Docket No. 17865 - see http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/me/york/wills/staples1.txt). See "Old Kittery and Her Families," Everett S. Stackpole (Lewiston, ME: 1903), p. 95 and 752ff. An account of the name derives it from the village of Estaples in France, and claims that the ancestor of the British family perhaps came with William the Conqueror. Another account traces the name to the inventor of the iron staple or to the obsolete term for a market or market town.
