[21740] The Daily Item, 12 March 1952, p. 13: Dr. Charles Adam Fisher, 65, for more than 40 years a teacher and administrator in public schools and colleges and an outstanding historian and genealogist of this area, died at his winter residence in DeLand, Florida. Dr. Fisher had been in declining health in recent years and suffered a cerebral stroke a few hours before death. He was horn in the Middlcreek section of Penn township, April 20, 1886, the son of Jacob A. and Ella Herrold Fisher. He attended school at Kantz and Selinsgrove. He received teacher training at the old Freeburg Academy and Bloomsburg State Teachers College, and first taught at Hummel's School, Monroe Township in 1905. He served in the public school systems of Sugar Grove, Russel and Littlestown, being high school principal of the latter two. He received his AB degree from Yale University and headed the commercial department at Erie Central High School. He was principal at Lewistown High School in 19:8-1919. During 1919-20 he taught at Sunbury High School. Dr. Fisher became head of the commercial department of Susquehanna University in 1920 and received his Master's Degree there. He was granted a PH.D from Iowa Christian College in 1923 and an honorary doctorate from Thiel College in 1924. In 1930 Dr. Fisher was appointed professor of Business Administration at John B. Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, and was influential in forming and expanding the School of Business at Stetson, becoming its director and director emeritus until ill health forced him to resign from active teaching in 1947. Dr. Fisher continued to reside in Selinsgrove on South High street, during the summer months and several years ago commenced extensive genealogical research on Central Pennsylvania families, rapidly becoming a recognized authority on the subject. He published "Snyder County Pioneers", 1936, "Early Pennsylvania Lineages", "History of the Woodling Family" and many others. Dr. Fisher's publications were much sought by libraries throughout the country and he supplied hundreds of lineages for persons desiring membership in patriotic societies. His most recent research was directed towards assembling a file of information on soldiers of the Revolutionary War. He was historian of a score of family reunion associations in this area and was awarded Fellowship in the Institute of American Genealogy, the highest professional honor in this field. Dr. Fisher was descended from many pioneer families of Snyder County, being a great-great grandson of John Adam Fisher who settled near Selinsgrove in 1774 and served in the revolutionary militia. Dr. Fisher played in the old Kantz Cornet Band as a boy and served nine years in the Pennsylvania National Guard. He attended many encampments of the GAR with his grandfather, John George Herrold, lieutenant in the. Civil War and as a familiar figure at patriotic and historical gatherings. He was a member of the Snyder and Northumberland counties historical societies; the Pennsylvania German Society and the Sons of the American Revolution. Dr. Fisher was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and assisted in founding St. Paul's at Middlecreek and the First Lutheran church at DeLand, Florida. He was a member of Lafayette Lodge 194, F. and A.M., Selinsgrove, since 1912. In 1908 he married Vera A. Hummel, of Monroe township, who survives. Seven children also survive, Mrs. Arline Fisher Bedeaux; Charles A. Fisher, Jr., of Selinsgrove; Mrs. Charles E. Olson, Bellwood, Ill.; Mary E. Fisher, Blaine, Washington: Harold J. Fisher, DeLand, Fla.; Paul H. Fisher, Washington D. C; and James F. Fisher, Baltimore, Md.; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. George Fisher, of Selinsgrove,. and Luther A. Fisher, Shillington. A sister Mrs. Arthur H. Charles, died several years ago. . .

[22584] "The Malcolm Family," John Karl Malcolm of Ann Arbor Michigan (1950), as quoted by Mr V. Alexander of Ontario according to http://www.geocities.com/j_mgage/fam-pages/wardwell.html: DUNCAN MALCOLM (McCallum, McCollum, MacColum, or McCullin) from Aberdeenshire, Scotland, came to America with his ten children about 1774. No record has been found of his wife. According to tradition Duncan was born about 1720. He was a weaver by trade. The family settled first at Watermill, near Southhampton, Long Island, New York (Long Island Cencus of 1776); removed to Saybrook, Conn., in 1776, and later to Middlefield, Conn. It is recorded in Savage's "Refugees from Long Island" that after the Battle of Long Island in 1776,'Dunkin McCollom, 6 persons, 1 lode of goods, 2 hogs,' were transported on the sloop 'Dove', Capt. Elijah Mason, from Sag Harbour, L.I. to Saybrook, Conn. Probably Duncan settled up the Connecticut River, about Middlefield, where there were sympathizers and where his daughter, Janet, later married Giles Miller, Jr. In 'Connecticut Men In The Revolution' there is a record that 'Duman McCullin of Saybrook' was in the Second Regiment, Connecticut Line under Col. Herman Swift. FINLAY MALCOLM, the son of DUNCAN was born in 1750, in Aberdeenshire Scotland. He died Sept. 18, 1829, and was buried in the old cemetary at Oakland, Ontario, Canada. Finlay Malcolm was a sea captain. He owned a trading vessel that plied between Scotland and America. Finlay set out for himself early in life as he is recorded in 1769 at Penobscot, now Castine, Maine, as an early settler on the northern bay, 'Majobigwaduce.' He is recorded in his Majesties service at Fort George during the seige by the Continentals in 1729. About 1769, Finlay and his brother John were settlers of Northern Bay. He was also a member of the Penobscot Association Grant, at St. Andrew's, in 1784. Finlay was a United Empire Loyalist and received a grant of land for his adherence to the King during the American Revolution. At Castine, Maine, Finlay met and married Tryphena Wardwell. She was the daughter of Captain Daniel Wardwell of York, Me. Tryphena was born in 1761 at York, Me. and died in Oakland Township, Oxford (now Brant) County, Ontario, on Jan. 16, 1813. She was buried in the old Oakland cemetery. In 1798, Finlay with his wife, Tryphena, and their family moved to Upper Canada. Before leaving Penobscot, Me., the records show that he sold out his real estate holdings amounting to several hundred acres." [43714] Find A Grave memorial 68554670 offers His obituary: "Mr. John J. Weimer, Port Royal's last veteran of the Civil war, answered the last roll call at the Harrisburg hospital on Saturday, Nov. 7th after a lingering illness of diseases, incident to old age, he having attained the age 'of 92 years and 14 days. Being too young to enlist at the outbreak of the Civil War, he waited until Feb. 16, 1864, when he enlisted at Harrisburg, Pa., and was assigned to Battery E, 3rd Regt. Penna. Vol Heavy Artillery. He was sent to Fortress Monroe, Va., where he remained until discharged. His Company, with three others, was sent to the Bermuda Front, Aug. 22, 1864 and remained there until May 22, 1865. Battery E was assigned to Fort Converse, covering the Pontoon Bridge across the Appomattox River, and was the extreme left of the Army of the James, and the right of the Army of the Potomac. A part of the work was that of furnishing details for fatigue duty upon the fortifications and for duty in other branches of the service. At the close of the war the Company returned to Fortress Monroe, where Jefferson Davis was for a time in durance, and under guard of this regiment. While at Fortress Monroe he frequently escorted Maj. General Mile's and Jefferson Davis in a stroll around the ramparts. This regiment in which he was placed was organized for special duty at Fortress Monroe, but had a large share of field service to perform. It was remarkably well drilled in artillery infantry and naval duty. He was honorably discharged Nov. 9,1865. After the war he returned to private life and took up his trade as a carpenter and was employed as a P. R. R carpenter for many years until placed on the retired list. He was a faithful member of the Port Royal Lutheran church and Sunday School and for many years served as an official in the church and sang in the choir. He also served in various official capacities in the Sunday School and taught a class. He was especially well versed in the Bible and on current topics of the day. He is survived by his aged wife, one daughter, Mrs. Laura McLaughlin, at home and one son, George M. Weimer of Port Royal and three grandsons, Hubert McLaughlin of Morgantown W. Va.; Dr. Bernal Weimer of Bethany, W. Va., and Rev. G. C.Weimer of Harrisburg, and a host of friends. - "Port Royal Times", 10 Nov 1936."
