[19993] "The News-Herald [Franklin, PA], 10 May 1938," p. 11: "Edward Hepler, 69, well known farmer in the Fryburg vicinity for many years and a resident of Oil City during the past four years, died at 1 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O. C. Burns, of 1127 East Second Street, following a stroke suffered Sunday. Mr. Hepler was born in Forest County on Aug. 23, 1868, the son of John and Susan Thorn Hepler, early settlers near Fryburg, and he was engaged in farming in the Fryburg area for many years preceding his retirement 20 years ago when he went to New Kensington. He was a member of the Evangelical Church at Venus. His wife, Sophia May Schwab Hepler, died 16 years ago, and Mr. Hepler came to Oil City to reside with his daughter four years ago. In addition to his daughter in this city, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. G. L. Wolfe, of Eldorado, Kan., and two sons, Orrie Hepler, of Franklin, and Claire Hepler, of Capito, South America. Fifteen grandchildren and two brothers, Harmon and Peter Hepler, both of Van, and one sister, Mrs. Oliver Myers, of Van, also survive."

She retired after 36 years with Ideal Electric. She attended Grace Bible Church in Lucas and loved working in her flower garden and taking care of her cats. She is survived by two daughters, Kim (Butch) Roberts of Fredericktown, Jody Alexander of Lucas; son, Jeff Henry of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Justin, Jesse and James Henry, Shannon Alexander, Jeremy Shambaugh, Tina Ammons; and great-granddaughter, Ivy Ammons. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon B. Henry on June 9, 2003; granddaughter, Alicia Alexander; and a sister."

Regt., dated Sept. 15, 1780, as returned by Col. Benjamin Tupper, together with a list of officers recommended to fill vacancies in his regiment by said Col. Tupper and Gen. Washington; said Ansel Tupper reported as an Ensign who had served as a volunteer from March 15, 1780; ordered in Council Sept. 26, 1780, that said officers be commissioned; also, Lieutenant, Col. After the war he was engaged as a surveyor of the Northwest Territory (Ohio) with his father; removed in the first group of settlers to Marietta, Ohio, 7 April 1788, with his parents. He was the first school teacher in Marietta; was said to have been proficient in the classical languages and in mathematics, and to have possessed a polished demeanor. Tiring of frontier life, he went on a long voyage: down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers; across the Atlantic; through the Mediterranean to Trieste, Austria-Hungary; returned home several years later.
Anselm was an Original Member of the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati from 1783 until 1808. He was granted a Bounty Land Warran 1 April 1790. [ii] A portrait of Anselm was reproduced in Chafflins History of Easton, Mass. (1886) on p. 256.
