[3031] Via email 12/2001: My seventh great grandfather, John Kinge, third son of William and Dorothy (Dibble) Kinge born in September 1638 and baptized in Salem, Essex, MA on 10 November 1638 married Elizabeth Goldthwaite the youngest daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth ( -?- ) Goldthwaite who came in the great migration lead by Governor Winthrope to New England about 1630 we don't know which ship of the 11 that he was on originally. I think that he landed at Roxbury and later came to Salem where he had a farm. Part of the farm was divided or added to and given to John Kinge and his wife. John was always held in
high regard by the Goldthwaite family. John signed important papers in Salem 1714 but is declared deceased in the will of his sister in law who died at Beverly on December 18, 1718. John probably went to Sutton to live with his sons and son in law Samuel King, William King, Jonathan King and Benjamin Marsh they farmed over 3,000 acres there. By 1744 Jonathan his grandson wrote in the history of Sutton that his family came to America from Stepney (a port near London) and that he bought 1,200 acres of the original King lands there at Sutton. Samuel migrated to New Salem, William followed later and Jonathan died in Sutton before the death of his Aunt according to the will. John's son John inherited the Goldthwaite/Kinge farm at Salem which was later sold back to the Goldthwaite family by a grandson. Goldthwaite's and Kinge's married again later as cousins keeping in close contact. Are you familiar with the genealogical writings of Charlotte Goldthwaite published in 1895 listing most of the Kinge's and Goldthwaites who survived into the 1900's? Bye the bye there was an early mix-up in the
surname of Dorothy Kinge, with no verifiable proof she was called "Haynes" we now believe that she was a "Dibble" married 15 January 1621/1622 at Saint John the Baptist Church of England in Yeovil, Somersetshire, England. Their first child Mary was born 14 months later in 1623. The parents brought 5 children even though Dorothy was pregnant on the ship to America leaving Weymouth, on the high tide of 20 March 1635/1636 arriving in New England in May 1636. William and Thomas Dibble went to Salem where they were declared "Freemen" in May 1636. -- Daniel David Lewis Frommherz (mckenziemarket@continet.com) PO Box 352, Blue River, Oregon 97413

[7824] http://www.guide2womenleaders.com offers: "Continued the disputes of her predecessor, Charlotte Sophie, with king Friederich Wilhelm I of Preusia over the continued drafts of soldiers for the ongoing wars - the City of Herford was only an Imperial Immediacy (reichsunmittelbar) on paper, in reality it was treated like a Preusian provincial town and she tried to protect its interests. When she took office, she confirmed the tenantcies of local nobles who held the fiefs of the chapter, using the titulature, Johann Charlotta verwitwete Prinzessin in Preußen, postulierte Äbtissin des Stifts Herford. She was daughter of Johann Georg II von Anhalt-Dessau (1627-60-93) and Henriette Katherine of Nassau-Oranje, and widow of Margrave Philipp Wilhelm von Brandenburg-Schwedt (1669-1688-1711). Mother of 6 children, and in 1764 her granddaughter Friederike Charlotte Leopoldine Luise became the last reigning abbess of the territory."

INDEX

[1245] In 2003 http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/1094/whitcomb.htm offers: "This particular branch of Whitcomb's goes back to Thomas Whitcomb who was born in the year 1444 in England. William Whitcomb, who was born in 1528, was given a "share in Virginia" by his father-in-law, John Harper. William in turn gave this share to his second son, John. This gift was made due to the fact that as a younger brother John would not have inherited his fathers land due to the law of primogeniture in effect in England. John Whitcomb was born about 1588. He married Frances Coggin or Cogan on November 26, 1623 at Saint Mary Magdalene Church in Tauton, Somerset, England. She was the daughter of Henry Coggin, who was a weaver. He and his wife, Joan Borridge, had 8 daughters, all of whom were christened and married at St. Mary Magdaline Church. Henry himself was buried there on December 1, 1612. The above information is not accepted by all concerned, the book 'Search for the Passengers of the Mary and John' acknowledges the possibility of this line back to Thomas but does not believe there is proof of it. They claim that John Whitcomb may be related to two brothers; Robert and Symon Whitcombe, who were among the financial supporters of Rev. John White of Dorchester who recruited many settlers from Dorset and Somerset families to settle in New England. Both were merchants who also had dealings with Sir Walter Raleigh. Their father was John Whitcombe of Sherborne who died in 1598.
John and his wife Frances and six children sailed to New England on the "Hopewell" in 1635. They first settled in Dorchester, MA, and later moved to Scituate, MA in 1640 and were among the first settlers in lancaster in 1654. they had ten children; Catherine Ellms (1624-1688), John (1626-1683, Jonathan (1628-1690), Robert (1628/9-1696), James (1631-1686, Joanne (1632-), Job (1636-1683), Josiah (1636-1683), Abigail (1642-) and Mary Moore (1647-1695). John died a rich man on September 24, 1662. His wife, Frances, died on May 17, 1671. Both died in Lancaster, MA."
