[24609] Cenwalh reigned 643-672, with interruptions. He m. and then discarded a sister of Penda of Mercia. Mercia revenge resulted in the loss of territory, including much of Somerset, Hampshire adn the Isle of Wight. Cenwalh fled to East Anglia; he later regained his kingdon and founded the catherdral at Winchester in 648 (where he is buried).
