[47833] "Garrett Clipper [Garrett, Indiana], 7 February 1957," p. 1: "A native and lifelong resident of Garrett, Joseph Ray Myers, died at the age of 35 in St. Joseph's hospital in Fort Wayne at 6:45 p.m. Monday. Mr. Myers, a machinist at the Auburn Dana Division plant, became ill and was admitted to Sacred Heart hospital in Garrett on Dec. 19. Two days later he underwent surgery and was then taken to the hospital in Fort Wayne. A spleen was removed a week ago and Mr. Myers succumbed to a complication of diseases. The body was removed to the McKee funeral home in Garrett where it will remain for funeral services which will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday. Dr. Roy Hankey of near Butler, Jehovah Witnesses minister in Auburn, will officiate at the services and burial will be in Union cemetery, northwest of Garrett. Mr. Myers was a member of the Church of Christ in Garrett. He was born April 8, 1921 in Garrett, the son of Mrs. Erma Jewel Myers and the late Homer A. Myers. He resided with his mother at 114 North Walsh street, Garrett. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Forrest Buell of Edon, O., and Mrs. Joe Word of Camden, Mich."
