Bleecher, died at 3:30 p. m. yesterday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Huber, West Willow, where she resided. Death followed a six weeks' illness. She was a daughter of the late John H. and Catharine Overly Dunlap and was a member of the New Providence Church of God. Surviving are these sons and daughters: John Elmer Bleecher, Lancaster; Myrtle, wife of Charles Flora, New Providence R1; Catharine, wife of Lester Huber, with whom she resided; Harry E. D. Bleecher, Willow Street R1, and James M. Bleecher, West Willow. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family."

In 1715 he was 'to have as much land about where his house now standeth as he hath in the 6th lot of wood land division of Eastern Harbor.' In 1716 'Town meeting for settling a School agreed the School shall be kept one half the time at Andrew Newcombs or somewhere thereabouts.' In 1723 'agreed the school should be settle the first half year at house of Andrew Newcomb of as near as it may be,' and again, in 1730, the same decision regarding the location of the school was made. In 1719 Mr. Newcomb was chosen moderator of town meeting and three years following, 1720-1-2, he served as selectman. He was a grand juryman in 1730. His cattle mark was 'a crop off ye tip of right year.'"

Astbury, 88, was surrounded by her family and loved ones when she was taken to be with the Lord on April 7, 1998 at a Blue Hill hospital. Born in Brooksville on Oct. 29, 1909, she was the daughter of Lester and May (Douglas) Wescott. Hazel was a very active member of the Blue Hill Baptist Church and was always involved with the church sales and sewing circle. She was known to welcome people into her home and if they were lucky enough they were able to try one of her apple pies. Hazel was a member of the Halcyon Grange No. 345 of North Blue Hill, and a member of the Blue Hill Fair Association. Hazel had incredible energy and enjoyed working very hard in many summer resident's homes where she worked over the years. She enjoyed her conversation and companionship of her sister and was very family orientated and close to her children and loved her grandchildren dearly. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John E. Astbury. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Lloyd and Colene Astbury, Clyde and Gloria Astbury, all of Blue Hill; a daughter and her husband, Jeanette and Clarence Eastman of Bucksport; grandchildren Diane and Timmy McNeal of Surry, Perry and Sylvia Astbury of Penobscot, Crystal and Albert Howes Jr. of Blue Hill, Marie Pearson of Brewer, Sharon and Bill Grindle of Blue Hill, Donna and John DeLeo of Ellsworth, Violet and John Hughes of Kennebunk, John and Karen Wardwell, Robert and Robin Wardwell, Brian and Karen Wardwell, Roxanne and Joe Peak, all of Orland; one grandchild, Daniel Astbury, the son of Clyde and Gloria Astbury, predeceased her. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by all of her brothers, Everett Wescott of Princeton, Clifford, Kendall, Cecil, Charles, Wescott, all of New Jersey, Lawrence Wescott of Windham, and is survived by her loving sister, Thelma Closson of Sedgwick. Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-7 pm Thursday at the Healey Funeral Home South Street, Blue Hill. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday April 10 at the Blue Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Albert Coffey officiating. Burial will be at Seaside Cemetery, Blue Hill."
