Buried in Rea Cemetery in Retta outside of Lillian in Johnson Co., TX., off of CR 603. Stone was broken in 3 pieces and on the ground when seen last on 2-8-99 by documentor. 2-9-99 MTRea. Ref. Callan Swenson and Bill Boydstun.4-15-99 MTRea. In 1850, James Berry Boydstun is found in the household of Henry Ground (his uncle's daughter's husband). In 1859, James Berry Boydstun and John Riley Boydstun went by wagon train to Ft. Worth, Texas from Knox County, IL. He settled at Retta in Tarrant County. Both joined the Confederate Army in Texas. James Berry resided in Dallas, Texas, in 1880. Much information on this family comes from the records of Earnest C. Haws of Farmington, NM, a descendant. It comes in conflict at times with the information provided in "The Boydstun Family" by Gladys Domonoske. In most cases, I have used the information as corrected by Earnest C. Haws, but have noted the conflict in a note area.
A biography in the History of Mansfield, Texas, p. 193, written by Earnest C. Haws: "James Berry Boydstun (1827-1897) was born in Warren County, Kentucky to John G. (1805-1847) and Betsy (Atterberry) Boydstun. The family moved to Knox County, Illinois when Berry was 13. "James Berry Boydstun and Hannah Caroline Rea were married on 4 March 1851 in Warren County, Illinois. ..In the spring of 1859, Berry and family, together with Berry's brother John Riley Boydstun, decided to follow other kinsmen who had previously settled around Dallas County (Texas). A trip down the Mississippi brought them to Texas. Berry settled his family on a farm in northwest Ellis County. ..In February 1876, Berry patented 120 acres near Mansfield in Tarrant County (Vol 577 No.3). With the James families nearby, the Boydstun-James marriages began" with four of their children marrying James children. Apparently James' wife and some of his children went to Groom, Carson County, Texas, where she died. Some of the other boys are found in Johnson and Tarrant County, Texas Census in 1880.
"Boydston, Texas was named after Henry Sanford Boydstun, son of James Berry & Hannah Caroline Rea Boydstun. Henry Sanford Boydstun was born in Abbingdon, Knox Co. IL on May 8, 1858. He married Mary Frances James on November 22, 1877 (Mary Frances James was born in Johnson Co. TX on April 4, 1860 and died December 18, 1950). Sometime in (or about) 1887, Henry (along with his father, James Berry Boydstun) went from Ft. Worth, TX to Old Clarendon area on the north banks of the North Fork of Red River -- they passed through what is now Amarillo, TX into northern New Mexico, but returned to Old Clarendon area where Henry filed on the first section that was completely on the plains, being 18 miles morth west of Clarendon (that first filing was forfeited, but Henry filed again). The Boydstun family, Henry & Mary and six children moved to their new home on the plains and spudded in a dugout 10' x 12'. On 28 April 1890, Eddie Boydstun was born and died four days later. Henry Boydstun went to Clarendon for a casket -- Eddie Boydstun was the first person buried in what is now the Boydstun Cemetery located in what was the southwest corner of the section filed on by Henry. Later, Henry Boydstun deeded two acres to the county to be used for cemetery purposes forever. The trustees were Ed Johnson, John Frazier, and Levi Angel." - Lucille Suttle Merrick in "A Chronicle of Carson County," Vol II by Mrs. Ralph E. Randel and the Carson County Historical Survey Committee.

See Nelson's online Family Tree Maker database (10/98) at http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/n/e/l/Robert-K-Nelson NSSAR Patriot Index reports Joseph's wife is Catherine Epley (m. 1850), and gives a daughter, Harriett ("Hattie")(b. 1 April 1857 in Tontogany, OH, d. 28 May 1923 in Tecumseh, MI, m. 31 Jan 1878 George W. Stone). Reprinting a Woods Co., OH biographical volume, http://www.heritagepursuit.com/Wood/WoodBio1200.htm offers: "Joseph Brillhart, deceased, was one of the best known farmer; of Washington township, this county, and was truly a self-made man, having acquired all that he possessed through his own industrious and persevering efforts, combined with sound judgment and good business ability. He was born in York county, Penn., on. October 22, 1822, and was a son of John Brillhart, who was also a native of the Keystone State, and grew to manhood on his father's farm. On attaining, his majority John Brillhart married Catherine Lowe, and they became the parents of eight children, namely: Jacob; Mary, deceased, who was, known by the name of. 'Polly,' John, who was a minister of the Dunkard Church, and is now deceased; Catherine, who has also passed away; Daniel, a resident of Ohio; Peter, a farmer of Henry county, Ohio; Joseph, of this sketch; and Joanas. After the father's death in Crawford county, the, mother removed to Stark county, Ohio, where she departed this life at the age of seventy-five years. Joseph Brillhart obtained his literary education in the common schools of Stark county, remaining at home until he had reached the age of twenty-six when he went to Crawford county, Ohio, where for ten years he owned and operated a farm of eighty acres. On selling that property he came to Wood county, where he purchased 104 acres, which were still an unbroken wilderness, erecting thereon a log cabin. He immediately began the work of developing his land, making extensive improvements, and left one of the best equipped farms in the county. In Stark county, Ohio, was celebrated the marriage of Mr. Brillhart and Catherine Epley, and of their union the following; children have been born Benjamin, who is in delicate health is a farmer by occupation; Rebecca, who died at the age of thirty years, was the wife of White McMann, of Otsego, Ohio; Amanda is the wife of, George Mawer, of Grand Rapids township, Wood county; Hattie is the wife of George Stone; Calvin wedded a Miss Jeffers, and operates the homestead farm; and Frank is also a farmer. For a number of terms Mr. Brillhart served as school director, and while a resident of Crawford county filled the office of supervisor, he was a stanch supporter of the Republican party, and took to deep interest in its success, and throughout the county was well and favorably known, His death occurred on the old homestead, July 30, 1896."

[8273] William was Lord of Standway Castle. William m. Hawise _______ per Collins, "Royal Ancestors...," p. 164. The LDS Church's unverified IGI file reports that William m. ca. 1187 in Great Bromley, Co. Essex to Hawise. http://www.magnacharta.org/Barons/baron_william_de_lanvallei.htm reports: "William de Lanvallei, the Surety, died 1217. He was governor of Colchester Castle (see later under Quincey) in 1215, when he joined the insurgent Barons. He also had Stanway Castle, which has since crumbled to dust. In 1212 Alan Basset of Wycombe, co. Bucks (father of Philip Basset, Chief Justice of England, who is named in Magna Charta as one of the King's liegemen) gave the King two hundred marks and "an excellent palfrey," so that his daughter Hawise might be married to William de Lanvallei."

[1896] Fought at Crecy, 25 August 1346, and Poiters, 19 Sept. 1356. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~fosterfamily/foster2.html states: "Sir Richard Forster (d. 1371) fought in the One Hundred Years War with France. He accompanied King Edward III in the invasion of France and was knighted after the battle of Crecy on August 26, 1346. He is also known to have fought at Bordeaux."
[11841] Richard Hughes (rhugh@adelphia.net) posted on GenForum 30 July 2003: "I believe the father of Nathaniel McFann (b. ca. 1803 in Martic twp, Lancaster Co., PA) was William McFann, not Aaron McFann as some others have stated. Aaron McFann Jr. would be son of Aaron McFann Sr., William's brother. Aaron, David, William and Robert (found in the 1801-09 Martic tax lists) are believed to be sons of Nathaniel McFann. Nathaniel is believed to be a brother of John, Daniel and an unknown McFann (probably David) and are the first immigrants of the McFann clan to America in the late 1700's. They most likely came from Londonderry Co. in Northern Ireland." See notes for Sarah, Aaron's wife.
[13469] Andrew's parents, born in Hungary, are Andrew Miller (1879-1960) and Elizabeth Grimm (1881-1955).
