Born May 31, 1917, in Newville, he was the son of the late John and Maude Wheeler Swartz. He was a member of Center Lutheran Church. Mr. Swartz was a retired farmer. Vernal Warner Swartz, his first wife, died in April 1974. Mary Wolf Swartz, his second wife, died in December 1978. Surviving are a daughter, Verna Jean Graham of Mechanicsburg; three sons, Lee F. and J. Michael, both of Newville, and Arthur E. of Walnut Bottom; two stepdaughters, Joyce Hurley and Darlene McCready, both of Newville; eight grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren."
