[3731] {Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1956 Ed., 20:24 states that Thomas I died in 1222; and that he "acquired extensions of territory in the Bugey, Vaud and Romont to the west of the Alps, and Carignano, Pinerolo, Moncalieri and Vigone to the east; he also exercised sway over Geneva, Albenga, Savona and Saluzzo...."} Thomas supported the Hohenstaufens and was appointed Imperial Vicat, a position he used to extend his lands on both side of the Alps. One source gives his wife as Beatrix of Geneva.
