[Jeremiah] began preaching in 1838 and continued to do so until his death in 1881 in nearby Pleasant Hill.... In 1839, Jeremiah's parents, John and Abigail Farmer moved from Meigs County, Tennessee to join him. / John's second son, William H. Farmer married Dorcas Robinson in 1839.
