Mrs. Linda Ellen Foster, well-known Chico woman and a resident of Butte County for 76 years, died this morning after a lengthy illness. "She was born Oct 2, 1878, at Fort Bragg to Benjamin and Annie Rucker who became early day-settlers in Chico. Her family moved to Artois, Glenn County, when she was a year old and to Chico when she was nine. Her schooling was in Chico and on March 31, 1895, she was married to Robert M. Foster in Paradise who died in 1932, at which time she came to Chico to live with her daughter, the late Ione Ferguson. Her husband was a stock farmer and they had their home about seven miles east of Durham and maintained a summer home at Stirling City for many years. Mrs. Foster was for many years a member of Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian Church, and was a 45-year member of Beulah Rebekah Lodge No. 60 of Chico. She was a past noble grand, past district deputy, and a past president of Veteran Rebeckahs. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Irene Harris and Mrs. Leta Hicks of Chico, and Mrs. Eva Bennett of Oregon; a brother, Allen Rucker of Chico; a grandson Robert Foster of Pentz, and a great granddaughter.1964: Linda E.
