He served, in the 20th Henry III, in the office of sheriff, with John de Moore, in Cumberland in 1235/36. He was constituted, 32nd of Henry III, sheriff of Yorkshire, and governor of the castles of Scarborough and Pickering in 1247/48. He died in 1257/58. He died in the 42nd of Henry III." It is said that the surname Dacre arose from the exploits of the family at the siege of Acre in the Holy Land.
