[3857] Harold was raised in Grenland, Norway (NOT Greenland), and was made an under-king of Vingulmark, Vestfold and Agdir about 960 by Harald "Bluetooth" (King of Denmark). He was murdered about 995 by foster sister Sigrid Storrada "the Haughty" (she b. ca. 952). Harold and Åsta settled in Viken (the Oslo fjord area), but we do not know if Olaf was born there or elsewhere. John II is son of John I (r. 1237-1286), son of Pierre Maucler de Dreux (a Capetian prince; r. 1212-1237) who married married Alix, hieress of Brittany and sister of Arthur Plantagenet. http://en.wikipedia.org offers in 2007: "After he inherited the ducal throne, he gave his brother John their father's English earldom of Richmond. In 1309, he convoked the first estates general (the ancestor of the Breton parliament) in Brittany. It was the first time in French history that the third estate was represented. [55131] Leon's onituary: "Leon G. Perkins, 77, passed away Nov. 27, 2003, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 26, 1926, in Orono, the son of Leon and Josephine M.B. Perkins. Leon attended Orono schools and was a lifelong resident of that town. He served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was then employed as a manager/foreman for the Wheelwright 'Nokomis' Farm for 31 years and served local communities in public service for many years. He loved to share special memories with family and friends of hunting, fishing and camping trips with longtime friends Larry, Bobby, Roy, and Alan Thurston. He is survived by his loving companion of 21 years, Ramona H. McPherson (Mom II); and loving and devoted father of Leon 'Sandy' Perkins of Freeport, Glenn A. Perkins and his wife, Lisa, of Brownville, Thomas J. Perkins and his wife, Stephanie, of Orono, Susan M. Rice and her husband, Leonard, of Glenburn, Gary McPherson of Levant, Craig D. McPherson of Levant, Mark McPherson and his wife, Michele, of Levant, Susan Young and her husband, Jackie, of Corea; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Nathan, Molly, Katie, Derek, Dustin, Devin, Brandon, Abbie Perkins, Amanda and Sheree Rice; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jay; one sister, Elvira 'Sis' LaGassey; and one niece, Kathy LaGassey of Arlington, Va. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary S. Perkins. Your children are very appreciative for the many life experiences that weve shared and for the lifelong values that you have instilled in us. Thank you Dad, you will be in our hearts forever."

[50534] "Lincoln County News, 6 June 1991:" "Theodore W. Sylvester, 85, Rockland, died May 31 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness. He was born in Rockland, a son of Frederick and Ida (Emery) Sylvester. Mr. Sylvester was a retired machinist and printer. he worked for many years at the Courier-Gazette, a profession he continued on a part-time basis until 1984 at the Courier and Dale Mountain Printing Co. During his retirement years, he also worked as a Knox County deputy sheriff as grand jury and court officer. After retiring for a second time at age 80, he became a volunteer at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, and endeavor he continued until his death. Mr. Sylvester graduated from Rockland High School, class of 1925,w here he played football and competed in track. Surviving are his wife, Evangeline (Winchenbaugh) Sylvester of Rockland; two daughters, Sandra R. Sylvester of Norcross, GA, and Mrs. Gerald (Sara) E. Tavares of Ellington, CT., two sons, Theodore W. Jr. of Owls Head and Harland L. of Thomaston; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Frederica) Hilton of Bremen and Mrs. Andrew (Ruth) Stanley of Cranberry Island, two half-sisters, Mary and Josephine Tolman, both of Rockland, a half-brother, Evans Tolman of Glen Cove, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren."
