http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/4803/cobb.htm states that Patience m. (1) August 1667 to Robert Parker (d. 1682) at Barnstable, MA, and m. (2) after 4 May 1684 to William Crocker (b. ca.1608, d. 1692) at Barnstable.

Virginia Horler offers:

The following notes on Patience (Cobb) Parker are taken from the The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, volume 112, July 1958, article on "Robert Parker of Barnstable, Mass." by Maclean W. McLean, of Pittsburgh, Pa.

PATIENCE (COBB) PARKER

The records show that Patience (Cobb) Parker survived her first husband by more than forty years. Baptised in Barnstable 13 March 1641/2, she was among the heirs under the will, dated 1656, of her grandfather James Hurst, and she was named, also, in the will of her father, Henry Cobb See Below, in 1678. She married secondly, Dea. William Crocker, a widower and father of six sons and a daughter. In his Will, dated 9 Sept. and proved 22 Oct. 1692, Deacon Crocker bequeathed to "Patience, my loving wife, besides the liberty to dispose of all ye Estate which she brought with her or had at ye time of our inter-marriage, and besides ye £ 40 I then promised to give her in case she should survive me, I give unto her my best bedd and bedstead with all ye furniture thereto belonging". The will of her son, Daniel Parker, dated 10 Sept., 1724, gives certain property to Daniel's son, Samuel Parker, with the provision that the latter fulfill "to his grandmother", the testator's obligation.

Patience (Cobb) (Parker) Crocker apparently had with her in her household her unmarried daughter, Alice Parker, until the latter's death on 20 Aug. 1727. Slightly more than two months later, the mother's own death occurred---23 Oct. 1727. She lies buried in the old "Lothrop's Hill Cemetery" in Barnstable, where her stone is clearly (in 1956) readable: "Here lyes ye Body of Mrs. Patience Crocker, wife of Deacon William Crocker, who died October ye 23rd, 1727 in ye 87th year of her age". Her oldest stepson was about five years older than herself and her daughter (Sarah Parker), married her step-grandson, Samuel Crocker. She outlived all of the children of her first husband's first marriage, all of her second husband's children (by his first wife) and four of her own eight children.

The marriage of Robert Parker and Sarah James and the births of their children, along with his subsequent marriage to Patience Cobb and children from that marriage, are recorded in The Mayflower Descendant, 11 (1909), 99-100. Additional information on Sarah and her children is in Maclean W. McLean, "Robert Parker of Barnstable, Mass.," Register 112 (1958), 113 (1959) and 114 (1960). Kathy says Robert was probably of Barnstable and that he apparently married (2) Patience, who attested to his inventory 1 June 1685. On 8 October 1662, a deed was recorded from Thomas Bourman of Barnstable to Robert Parker of Barnstable. Another deed from Samuel Allen of Barnstable, gentleman, to Robert Parker of Barnstable, yeoman, was dated 29 September 1681.

Mayflower scholar Charles Bank identifies John or Thomas Parker as a member of the crew of the Mayflower. It seems John Phillips gave a 1750 deposition in which he said Sagadahock had the name of Parkers Island given it from Thomas Parker, mate of the first ship that came from England with the Plymouth people. Finally, Kathy asks if anyone else is working on the line from Robert Parker m. Sarah James 1653. (Source: www.parkerheritage.com)

[4610] Ina fought at Wannorough in 715 and in 728 went to Rome, dying there. His elaborate code of laws was highly regarded. D.P. Kirby, "The Earliest English Kings," p. 126: "Ine appears as a hard-headed, resilient leader in rigorous pursuit of his own interests. His kingdom had come some considerable way from the remote and backward region it had been at the beginning of the seventh century." Ina completed the reconquest of the kingdom, extending its frontiers to the west and defeating the Britons of Cornwall and the King of Sussex. History credits Ina with foundation of the port of Southampton. He abidcated and died en route to Rome.

INDEX

[14802] As Alfonso I, king of Naples. Called The Magnanimous. He earned his nickname when, upon his ascension to the throne, he destroyed a list containing the names of nobles who had been hostile to him. He is renowned chiefly for having brought southern Italy under the dominion of Aragón. In 1420 Alfonso attacked Corsica, but hastened to Naples at the request of its queen, Joanna II (1371-1435), who, in return for his assistance against Louis III of Anjou, named Alfonso her heir. In 1423 the queen transferred her favor from Alfonso to his rival, Louis. On her death in 1435 Alfonso claimed the kingdom, but Duke René of Anjou (1409-80), successor of Louis, opposed him. The pope and Genoa sided with René. The Genoese fleet defeated the fleet of Aragón, and Alfonso was captured. He was sent to Francesco Sforza, duke of Milan, who set him at liberty and formed an alliance with him. After several battles Alfonso defeated René and entered Naples in triumph, transferring his court there and becoming the founder of Spanish power in Italy as Alfonso I.
