[5423] The final monarch of the House of Stuart, Queen Anne, was born on 6 February 1665, at St James's Palace in London. Anne was the fourth child of the future King James VII of Scotland, who was brother of King Charles II. As queen, Anne presided over the 1707 Union of the Parliaments of Scotland and England. The future of the Stuart line was determined by Anne's reign as despite seventeen pregnancies, she did not produce a child who outlived her and therefore on her death in 1714, the House of Stuart came to an end and the throne passed to George I - her second cousin, of the House of Hanover.Anne was the last British sovereign of the house of Stuart. She was the second daughter of King James II. Although her father converted to Roman Catholicism in 1672, Anne remained Protestant and acquiesced in James's overthrow by the anti-Roman Catholic Glorious Revolution of 1688, which brought her sister Mary and Mary's husband, William of Orange, to the throne. Becoming queen on William's death in 1702, Anne restored to favor John Churchill, who had been disgraced by her predecessor, making him duke of Marlborough and captain-general of the army. Marlborough won a series of victories over the French in the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14, known in America as Queen Anne's War), and he and his wife, Sarah (1660-1744, apparently a lesbian lover of Queen Anne), had great influence over the queen in the early years of her reign. Devoted to the Church of England, Anne was inclined to favor the pro-church Tory faction rather than its Whig opponents, but, influenced by the Marlboroughs and Lord Treasurer Sidney Godolphin, earl of Godolphin (1645-1712), she at first excluded the Tories from office. Later, however, her friendship with the Marlboroughs cooled, and in 1710 she took advantage of popular dissatisfaction with the Whigs to remove Godolphin; Marlborough was dismissed the following year. During Queen Anne's reign the kingdoms of England and Scotland were united (1707). She died in London, and, having no surviving children, was succeeded by her German cousin, George, elector of Hannover, as King George I of Great Britain.

[25758] The LDS Church's unverified Ancestral File (PXX7-XB) reports that Reginald m. Alice Brokengreen (b. ca. 1264) and proposes that Reginald is son of Reynold FitzPiers (b. ca. 1230) and Joan Vivonia who is in this database - cf. Ancestral File G8B7-62 - but the dates of birth for each makes this very unlikely.

[19105] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfonso_IV_of_León offers in 2015: "Alfonso IV (c. 890s - 933), called the Monk, was King of León from 925 (or 926) and King of Galicia from 929, until he abdicated in 931. When Ordoño II died in 924 it was not one of his sons who ascended to the throne of León but rather his brother Fruela II of Asturias. The exact circumstances of the succession upon Fruela's death one year later are unclear, but the son of Fruela, Alfonso Fróilaz, became king in at least part of the kingdom. Sancho Ordóñez, Alfonso, and Ramiro, the sons of Ordoño II, claimed to be the rightful heirs and rebelled[disambiguation needed] against their cousin. With the support of king Jimeno Garcés of Pamplona, they drove Alfonso Fróilaz to the eastern marches of Asturias, and divided the kingdom among themselves with Alfonso Ordóñez receiving the crown of León and his elder brother Sancho being acclaimed king in Galicia. Alfonso IV resigned the crown to his brother Ramiro in 931 and went into a religious house. One year later he took up arms with Fruela's sons Ordoño and Ramiro against his own brother Ramiro, having repented of his renunciation of the world. He was defeated, blinded, and sent back to die in the cloister of Sahagún. Alfonso had married Oneca Sánchez of Pamplona, niece of his ally Jimeno Garcés and daughter of Sancho I of Pamplona by Toda of Navarre. He had two children: Ordoño IV of León, and perhaps another son, Fruela, who was involved in a land dispute during the reign of Ramiro III of León."

[32263] See http://www.clanrutherfurd.org/Genealogy.aspx Ancestry.com offers: "Rutherford Name Meaning - Scottish and northern English: habitational name from a place in the Scottish Borders near Roxburgh, probably named with an early British river name of unknown etymology + Old English ford 'ford'. There is another place of the same name in North Yorkshire, named with hryðer 'cattle' + Old English ford 'ford', but this does not seem to have contributed to the surname."
[1084] Edward was born in St. Mary Parish, Bideford, Devonshire, England, and appears in Maine records in 1640. He resided at Piscataqua, 1633; Kittery; Isle of Shoals. His wife, Elizabeth, was buried in St. Mary Parish, Bideford, England; she remained in England with four children. Edward is not known in the records after 1653. "The Early Pleasant River familes of Washington Co., Maine", p. 507 reports that Edward Small came from Bideford, Devonshire, England to Kittery about 1634-35 with his son Francis, but his wife and 5 younger children remainded in England. Descendands were prolific and settled along the New England coast from Cape Cod to coastal Maine, arriving in Washington Co. with the early settlers. See "Descendants of Edward Small of New England and the allied families, with tracings of English ancestry," by Underhill, Lora Altine Woodbury (Houghton Mifflin Co., 1934) and "The Metcalf and Small Families: Some Descendanta of Michael Metcalf of Dedham, Massachusetts, and Edward Small of Kittery, Main" Maureen A. Taylor & Peter M. Small (Boston: Newbury Press (NEHGS), 2018.
