Alexander, 81, of 3577 Yellow Creek rd., died May 4 at Akron General Medical Center, after a sudden illness. A veteran of World War I, he was born in Ghent, O. and had lived his life in the Akron area. He was a member of Ghent Christian Church, Meridian Sun Lodge F&AM No. 69, Tadmor Shrine, and Yusef Khan Grotto. He was past president of the following: Akron Rotary, Akron Boy Scouts, Akron Chamber of Commerce, and Akron Community Chest. He was on the Board of Akron National Bank, Akron General Medical Center, and the Summit County Planning Commission, as well as a former Trustee of Bath Township. He had been awarded the Silver Beaver and the Order of the Arrow by the Boy Scouts. Mr. Alexander retired as president of the Akron Pure Milk Company, after 35 years service. He is survived by wife, Clara; son, Clair B., Jr. of Akron; daughter, Miss Jane Alexander of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; two step sons; one step daughter; eight step grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Helen Hale of Stow, Mrs. Gladys Bunnell of San Fransciso, Calif., Mrs. Clara Stansfield of Akron; brothers, Mr. Robert Alexander, Akron, Mr. Perry H. Alexander of Tampa, Fla. Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Ghent Christian Church, Rev. Gene Chiavetta officiating. Graveside service and interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Burial Park."
