She was born June 19, 1861, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Fleck Eckenrode. She was a member of the Amberson M. P. Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Samuel Witter, Chambersburg, R. R. 2: Mrs. William Piper, Fayetteville; Mrs. Ottie Piper, Shippensburg; Mrs. Lester Stake, Amberson; a son, William M. Culbertson, Amberson; a brother, Joseph Eckenrode, Amberson. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 from the Amberson Church. Rev. Elwood Blair will officiate; burial in Amberson cemetery."

He was baptised at the Little Tulpehocken Lutheran Church (now Christ Lutheran Church) about two miles south of Bernville in present Jefferson Twp.; John Jacob Zerbe and wife were sponsors.

[27949] Find A Grave Memorial 144736086 states Hannah d. 12 Sept 1712 in Farmington and offers: "She was the daughter of Matthew Woodruff of Farmingham born about 1612 in England and died about 1682 in Farmingham. He was married to Hannah." Ancestry.com offers: "Woodruff Name Meaning - English: topographic name for someone who lived on a patch of land where woodruff grew, Old English wudurofe (a compound of wudu wood with a second element of unknown origin). The leaves of the plant have a sweet smell and the surname may also have been a nickname for one who used it as a perfume, or perhaps an ironical nickname for a malodorous person."
