[10305] John owed the farm north of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Madison Twp. and when Elizabeth died in childbirth John gave land south of the church for use as a graveyard - she was the first person buried there. He was commissioned Lt. Col. in the 39th Regiment 3rd Brigade 11th Division in Perry Co. 1842-45, and is thereafter referred to as Col. John Arnold.
[1266] http://90.1911encyclopedia.org/C/CH/CHAUCER_GEOFFREY.htm states of the great English poet, Geoffrey Chaucer: "In December 1376 he was sent abroad on the king's service in the retinue of Sir John Burley." Cf. http://phoenixandturtle.net/excerptmill/Benson.htm - also see http://www.burley.info/genealogy-heraldry.htm for more information on the Burley family. The LDS Church's unverified Pedigree Resource File (Compact Disc #25, Pin #690021) reports that John. m. Anna Pembridge. Another Pedigree Resource File (not verified) states that John was b. in Waterstoke, Oxfordshire.

[3445] Bonne's parents are either: (1) Godfrey the Old, Count of Ardennes and Verdun, or (2) Ricuinus and his wife Agness of Troyes, Countess of Vermandois. "Ancestral Roots..." (Balt., 1992) 148-19 states that Charles of Lorraine (953-994) m. bef. 979 Adelheid, parentage unknown. Bonne and Charles also had Ludwig Barbatus, Landgraf of Thuringia (d. 1080), as well as a twin to their son, Charles, who died as an infant.
[3924] Clodius was "a mild and loving Prince" re: "Royal Ancestors of Magna Charta Barons," Carr P. Collins, Jr., Dallas, 1959, p. 119 - Collins gives a very suspicious ancestry which shows Clodius to be the great-great-grandson of Dagobert, King of the Franks, 306-317. {Cf. Ernst-Friedrich Kraentzler, "The Ancestry of Richard Plantagenet and Cecily de Neville..." (Salt Lake City: Accecerated Indexing Systems, 1978), p. 366.}

Richard, 2nd Earl of Ulster, was Baron of Connaught and Trim.{-Carr P. Collins, "Royal Ancestors...," p.53} He commanded all the Irish forces in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Gascoigne, founded the Carmelite monastery at Loughres, built the castles of Ballymote, Corran and Sligo, and retired to the monastery of Athassil. Richard "attacked the native king of Connaught in favour of that branch of the O'Conors whom his own family supported. He led his forces from Ireland to support Edward I in his Scottish campaigns, and on Edward Bruce's invasion of Ulster in 1315 Richard marched against him, but he had given his daughter Elizabeth in marriage to Robert Bruce, afterwards king of Scotland, about 1304. Occasionally summoned to English
parliaments, he spent most of his 40 years of activity in Ireland, where he was the greatest noble of his day, usually fighting the natives or his Anglo-Norman rivals, the Geraldines. The patent roll of 1290 shows that in addition to his lands in Ulster, Connaught and Munster, he had held the Isle of Man, but had surrendered it to the king." {-Encycl.Brit.,'56,4:401}
He may be son of Avelina FitzJohn (rather than of Maud de Lacy), as reported in 2003 by http://www.mathematical.com/burghwalter1230.html - cf. http://www.thepeerage.com/p261.htm.
