[10833] http://www.answers.com/topic/denmark offers: "Frederick III and Christian V (reigned 1670-99), aided by their minister Count Griffenfeld, were able to make the kingdom an absolute monarchy with the support of the peasants and townspeople. Denmark maintained an imperial status by continuing to rule over Iceland and by establishing (late 17th cent.) the Danish West Indies. In the Northern War (1720-21) against Charles XII of Sweden, Frederick IV (reigned 1699-1730) gained some financial awards and the union of ducal Schleswig with royal Schleswig." Sir John, heir of his father, was captain of the town and castle of Gorunay. He was a Knight of the Garter. See "Complete Peerage" Volume 6:159 - Grey of Ruthin - as modified by Volume 14. http://www.medievalgenealogy.org.uk/cp/p_greyofruthin.shtml reports: "According to Anne Crawford, 'Household Books of John Howard 1462-1471, 1481-1483' (1992), Sir John remarried, probably late in 1438, to Margaret, widow of Sir Robert Howard and daughter of Thomas (de Mowbray), Duke of Norfolk. She was referred to as Lady Margaret Grey, mother of John Howard, in a household list from around 1455, and died in 1459. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_John_Grey.

[42027] Find A Grave Memorial 35605249 offers: "Little is known about Elizabeth. She was born in Ohio where her parents were also born. She married James by 1834 in Ohio and had her first three children there. Her last five children were born in Illinois where she would lay to rest her oldest son in his boyhood. Her mother's heart must have lept with joy when her son Harvey returned home after serving in the Civil War only to be filled with sorrow when he died of his lingering injuries in 1882. As her children grew and married she became the grandmother of thirteen and numerous great-grandchildren. Having been born in the same year that the War of 1812 ended, Elizabeth lived to witness pivotal events in America's history. Choosing to settle in the fledgling state of Nebraska was a pivotal choice for the history of the family. She died 1894-1900. After 60 years of marriage to James and is buried next to him. NOTE -- her maiden name is NOT Hixon. Elizabeth does not have a headstone."

Virginia Horler notes:
In 1870 Annie M. Palmer (23) born in Maine was living in Brewer, Penobscot Maine in the home of Caleb Holyoke (59) a lumber dealer with real property of $80,000 and Personal property of $85,000, Caleb's wife Abby Y.? (48) and little Caleb (5). Annie was not a servant in the household as another young woman, Maggie Davis, age 18, was specifically listed as a domestic servant.
Before October 1873 Annie had moved to California where she married Frank Augustine Marston, who had been born in Bangor in 1845.
On January 11, 1876 the Oakland Evening Tribune ran an ad for "Frank A. Marston, Importer, Manufacturer, and Dealer in Harness, Saddles, Bridles, Trunks, etc., respectfully announces to the citizens of Oakland that he has bought out that old stand, Corner Broadway and Eleventh Street, Where he will be pleased to see old and new customers. Mr. A. W. Palmer will continue to have full supervision of the manufacturing department. Alpheus W. Palmer and George M. Palmer, Annie Mary's brothers, had established this business in Oakland in 1872.
1880 Census Brooklyn Township, Alameda, California, ED 28, page 597: Annie lived with her husband Frank A. (35) employed in harness manufacture, and two daughters in the home of her father-in-law, Phineas Frost Marston (67) a master light house builder, self and parents born in Maine; Mary (56); and Phineas Frost Marston Junior (29).
Annie Mary may have named her first daughter after Mrs. Abby Y. Holyoke, wife in the family she lived with in Bangor, Maine.
In 1884 the family had moved to Pasadena and Frank registered as a voter (1890 Great Register).
1900 Census, Pasadena, Los Angeles, CA ED 119, page 11A lists the family and states that Annie had had three children and that all were living. Annie's parents were both born in Maine. Abbie (23) was an artist and teacher. Husband Frank was a chemist?
1910 Census Pasadena, LA, CA ED 298 page 35: The family lived in Pasadena on California Street between South Madison and South Los Robles. Annie P. had had three children, two were living, and Abbie was not listed, although she had already married. Frank was no longer working. Annie P. lists her birthplace as New Brunswick and an immigration date of 1850. Does this mean that her parents lived for awhile in Canada? On every other census she lists her birthplace as Maine. Her youngest son, Sylvanus, was working as a building architect.
1920 Census Pasadena, La, CA ED 533, page 274: Frank (73) and Annie P. (71) lived on East California Street by themselves.
1930 Census Pasadena, LA, CA ED 1252, page ?: Frank valued his property at $35,000.
California State Death Index lists Annie Palmer Marston, born 12 Aug 1847 in Maine, Mother's Last name = WATTS, Father's last name = PALMER, died LA County 24 Jan 1940 at age 92. Frank died at age 86 in Los Angeles County on 14 July 1931.
IGI Family Group Record traces the Marston family back to Bristol, England about 1600. This record identifies Ann as Annie Mary Palmer but does not contain information about her parents. She married Frank Augustine Marston, married 13 Oct 1873 in San Francisco, San Francisco, CA, b. 30 Apr 1845 in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine, (son of Phineas Frost Marston and Susan E. Fisher) d. 14 Jul 1931 in Los Angeles County, California.
