She was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Dexter, a daughter of Hugh and Amber (Seavey) Hutchins. She graduated from Dexter High School and married Herbert L. Brooks, Oct. 1, 1949. Mim was a long standing member of First Baptist Church, Dexter, where she served as deaconness and member of the Elizabeth Towle Guild. Mim was a member of the West Ripley Extension for 45 years. She and Herbie owned and operated the 45th Parallel Restaurant. In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by her children, Brent R. Brooks and wife, Sherry, of Newport and Herbert "Butch" Brooks Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Dexter; stepdaughter, Shirley Patterson and husband, David, of Dexter; grandchildren, Brandee, Rachel and Kelcy Brooks; stepgrandchildren, David, Joel, Samantha, Randy, Richard, Warren, Mark, Johnathan, Victoria and Kimberly; several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Rodney Hutchins."

[11540] John III (of Portugal)(aka João III Le Pieux), king of Portugal (1521-57), the son of King Emanuel. At his accession Portugal was at the height of its power, but during his reign its influence began to wane. Colonial enterprise, however, continued; Portuguese title to Brazil was confirmed by the Congress of Badajoz in 1524 and the country's Asian possessions were expanded. John established the Inquisition in Portugal in 1531, under his brother Henry, who later became king. "Pottsville Republican, 13 April 1979," p. 2: "Mrs. Clara M. Lenker, 75, of 436 Center St., Millersburg, formerly of Pillow, died Thursday in Harrisburg Hospital. She was the widow of Marlin Lenker. Mrs. Lenker was a member of Elizabethville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Elwood Deppen and Mrs. Kenneth Gonder, Millersburg; Mrs. Guy Rothermel, Rebuck; Mrs. Carl Troutman, Halifax; Mrs. James Reed, Elizabethville; five sons, Ernest E., of RD1 Lykens; Lloyd A., Eugene C. and Donald M., all of Millersburg; and Steven, of Harrisburg; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Schlegel, Selinsgrove; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday afternoon at the Hoover Funeral Home, Millersburg and interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Pillow."
