"Daily Press [Newport News, Virginia], 10 September 1979," p. 22: "Mrs. Spangler Mrs. Emma K. Spangler, 85, 26 Milford Road, Newport News, died Sunday in Riverside Hospital. A native of Perry County, Pa., she had been a resident of Newport News for the past 63 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; Emera Chapter 31, Order of Eastern Star; past president of the Women's Republican Party, and a member of Warwick Womens Club. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Sarah Marie Spangler, at home; two sons, Lyman Leroy Spangler of Hampton, and Robert Frank Spangler of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren."
