[43759] Norwood's obituary: "Norwood W. Bakeman, 89, died Thursday, July 7, 2016 at his residence at Seaport Village, with his loving family by his side. He was born January 28, 1927, to Leon and Ella (Morey) Bakeman. He is a veteran of WWII in the Army serving in the South Pacific. He worked for 21 years at St. Regis Paper Company in Bucksport, and then he worked for and retired from Maine Maritime Academy in the maintenance department. Norwood loved to hunt, especially with his hunting companion and brother-in-law Eugene Bouchard. He also enjoyed fishing, boating and scuba diving. While scuba diving off of Castine, he found two Venetian Urns that were carbon dated to five thousand years old which are now on display at the Wilson Museum in Castine. The find was featured in People Magazine. After retiring Norwood became an avid woodworker. He built and sold model lighthouses and often could be found in his work shop building a piece of furniture for his children and grandchildren. Norwood is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Teresa R. (Bouchard) Bakeman of Ellsworth, four sons; Leon Bakeman and wife Vicki of Silverdale, WA, Paul Bakeman and wife Cindy of Bucksport, Bruce Bakeman of Bucksport and Florida wife Diane and John Bakeman and wife Gloria of Bangor, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a special nephew Clifford Weaver as well as many other nieces and nephews.
