[30614] Pamela's son, Robert Warden, provided the ancestry from the article about Jacob T Bullen Sr (his great grandfather) in "History of Alabama and dictionary of Alabama biography," Volume 3, p. 254: "Mr Bullen received his early education in the public schools of Louisville, Ky., and Montgomery, and was graduated from the Alabama Polytechnic Institute, B.S., 1892, C.E. 1900. He served as a clerk of the L & N railroad at Montgomery from 1892 until 1900; was assistant highway engineer for Jackson County three years, and chief engineer, two years; assistant engineer in the extension of the cityu water works at Montgomery; private engineer, 1905-1906; county engineer for Montgomery and Morgan Counties, 1906-1911; parish engineer of the Caddo Parish, La., October, 1911 - August 1916; county engineer of Raleigh County, Va., August, 1916-November 1916; U.S. district engineer for the bureau of roads, in charge of Federal aid roadwork of six southeastern states, 1916-1919. He enlisted in the Montgomery Greys during the Spanish-American War, and was promoted from private to second lieutenant, and after the was, became captain. He is a Democrat, and Episcopalian; and a member of the Phi Delta Theta College fraternity. Married: In Nashville, Tenn,. Gertrude, daughter of George Frederick and Sarah (Fennell) Scruggs, of Huntsville; granddaughter of Frederick and Margaret (Jimbrough) Scruggs, and of Isabella (Allison) Fennell; great granddaughter of Frederick and Rebecca Lindsay (Conway) Scruggs, the former a settler of North Carolina, afterwards called Jefferson County, Tenn.,; great-great-granddaughter of Gross and Anne Kuth (Hale) Scruggs, the former a native of Virginia who served in the Revolutionary War under Gen. Anthony Wayne and Edward Conway; great-great-great-granddaughter of Jesse Scruggs, who settled in Burke County, Ga, before 1774; great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Richard and Martha Scruggs of New Kent County, Va: great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Henry and Ann (Grose) Scruggs; great-great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Richard Scruggs, Gentleman, an Englishman of Bedfordshire, who came to America in 1655, and settled in the Province of Virgina. Children: 1. Margaret, b. 1906; 2. Jake, b. 1911; 3/ George, b. 1911. Residence: Montgomery."

Glatfelter, "Pastors and People: German Lutheran and Reformed Churches in the Pennsylvania Field, 1717-1793," Vol. I (Breinigsville, PA: PA German Society, 1980) reports: "New Allemangel and Friedens: located in Albany Twp. and organized in 1770, New Allemangel was formed after a split from old Allemangel Church. They completed a new building which was dedicated in 1771. Lutheran Daniel Schumacher and Reformed Frederick Berger provided the pastoral support for the breakoff congregation and a new union church register was begun on 20 May 1771. It was widely known as White Church. The Reformed withdrew from the union in 1960 and the Lutheran Congregation in 1980 was known as Friedens Lutheran, located at Stony Run 12 miles north of Kutztown." [48167] "Battle Creek Enquirer [Battle Creek, Michigan], 16 November 1993," p. 2: "Arthur N. Twichell, 81, formerly of Bellevue, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1993, in the Docsa Home, Springfield. He was born Oct. 24, 1912 in Dimondale to Frederick and Martha (Skinner) Twichell and graduated from Eaton Rapids High School. He operated a dry-cleaning business in East Lansing, Nashville and Befleuve and operated Bellevue Cleaners from 1951 to 1983. He was a life member of the Bellevue Masonic Lodge, the Bellevue Conservation Club and the Bellevue Lions Club, where he was honored as the oldest member. He served many years on the Bellevue Village Council and was named Bellevue Citizen of the Year in 1985. He married the former Monta O'Dell on July 26, 1933. She died in December 1983. He also was preceded in death by brothers, Burr, Maurice, Roy and Elmer Twichell and sisters, Bernice Thompson and Bessie North. Surviving are a daughter, Verna Hester of Keystone Heights, Fla.; a son, Vaud Twitchell of Gulf Port, Miss.; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Harley Twichell of Gladwin and Harvey Twichell of Wichita, Kan.; and a sister, Verna McCarrick of Eaton Rapids."
