Find A Grave memorial 54354177 offers William's obituary: "Wayne Pickworth never met a piece of pie he didnt like. In fact, he attributed his daily piece of pie (always served with his meal, not after - 'if you wait till after, you might not have enough room') to his good health and longevity. A lifelong Mansfield resident, Mr. Pickworth passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was 92. Born William Wayne Pickworth on July 21, 1917 in Huron County to Calvin and Sibyl (Mead) Pickworth, he was graduated from Adario High School in 1935. For 39½ years he worked as a machinist with Gorman Rupp, retiring in 1980. Wayne was the founder and past president of the Gorman Rupp Credit Union, and was a member of Quarter Century Club at Gorman Rupp. He was a member of Venus Lodge #152 F&AM, Baku Grotto, and First United Methodist Church, where he had served as an usher. Affectionately described as 'the rock of the family', Wayne worked hard to provide security and comfort for his family. He was a man of honor and loyalty, who held the Lords creation in high regard. He kept an immaculate lawn and enjoyed his vegetable gardens and stunning varieties of roses. A thoughtful man, Wayne was a staunch Republican, who seldom voted a straight ticket, rather studying each candidate ~ reading everything he could on them. Always up to date on current events, Wayne didnt just read the newspaper from front to back, he studied it from cover to cover, reading even small info-bits. As much as he loved politics and roses, he loved his family more; he taught them his love for coconut cream pie and how to drink coffee the right way: black. The family that he loves so dearly includes his daughters and sons-in-law Charlene Carol & Roger Blackstone of Mansfield, Sondra Marie & Larry Zerby of Toledo, Lana Diane Snyder of Bolivar, Karen Jean & Evan Mercer of Powell; grandchildren Cheryl (Jerry) France, Bradley Wayne (Cathy) Blackstone, Beth Marie (Gary) Ferguson, Lisa (Shawn) McClain, David (Diane) Zerby, Diane (Bobby) Parish, Debra (Jon) Ellenwood, Dawn (Michael) Lawrence, Michelle (Juan) Belmonte, Stephanie (Terry) Brinkman, Susan (James) Rodehaver, Melissa (Robert) Zickel, Sheri (Michael) Limbert and Evan, Jr. (Brigid) Mercer; 36 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law Clyde Austen; a sister-in-law Virginia Hanawalt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Avalon Austen Pickworth on August 4, 2000; and also by a son-in-law Richard Snyder; brothers Charles and Paul Pickworth, and sisters Iva Davidson, Gladys Cole, Pansy Cole and Violet Pickworth."
