He was currently the Director of Church Relations and Historic Bethany for Bethany College. He held several District and Regional offices which include serving on the current Commission on Ministry, Vice Moderator of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in West Virginia. He also served as the director of the West Virginia CYF Summer Conference, President of the District two Ministerial Association, President of the Northwest Ohio Disciples Ministerial Association, Member of the Ohio Regional Christian Education Commission, Member of the Ohio Regional Youth Commission, and Ohio District one and two Youth Advisor. He was pastor of the First Christian Church in Parkersburg from 1993-1996, Pastor of the Parma Christian Church in Parma, Ohio from 1987-1993, Pastor of the First Christian Church in Fostoria, Ohio from 1979-1987, Student Pastor of Cropper Christian Church in Cropper, KY from 1978-1979, Student Youth Minister of the First Christian Church in Corbin, KY and Youth Minister at the Ada Church of Christ from 1973-1974.

Ingjald was fed the roasted heart of a wolf when he was a young boy and from that time forward he was a ferocious person. On one occasion, Ingjald prepared a great feast to which he invited many of the important leaders in Sweden. Among others, six kings were present. When the guests became adequately drunk, Ingjald and his cohorts set fire to the house, burning all those inside. This strategy was used several times by Ingjald - the last time when he found himself facing defeat - and rather than face his enemies, he and all his party became dead drunk, set the hall on fire, consuming all within. [9829] "The Winchester Star, 4 March 1910": "Joseph M. Wert, son of Samuel and Lydia A. Wert, was born at Carlisle Springs, Cumberland Co., Pa., April 13, 1857 and departed this life Feb. 26, 1910, aged 52 years 10 months and 13 days. He came to Ohio in 1877, where he remained until the spring of 1878. Then he spent a few months in Decatur Ill., coming from there to Winchester, Kans., which became his home and remained so until his death. He was united in marriage with Miss Lizzie Ludt of Blowsorville, Pa., at Leavenworth, Kans., on May 12, 1887. Two children were born to this union, both dying in infancy. Besides his wife he leaves an aged mother, 2 brothers and a sister. Also many friends, but the sorest loss of all will fall upon the widow who must go the rest of her way in a sense alone. We commend kindly thoughts and comfort for her in the days to come. Mr. Wert engaged in the butchering business after coming to Winchester and continued in the same until his death, where he had a well equipped plant and many other interests, all of which show his business ability and integrity. As a neighbor and friend of rich and poor alike, Mr. Wert was unsurpassed in his sympathy and generosity and kindness. He had been a member of the city council, a prominent citizen, a public spirited man. The funeral took place from the residence on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. C. E. Holcombe of Topeka. All business in the city was suspended at this hour. And the high esteem in which he was held in his own community was attested by the large number of people attending, and by the feeling of sorrow expressed by friends and neighbors. Those from a distance attending the funeral were: J. F. Ludt, Kingston, Pa., D. A. Ludt, Carlisle, Pa., J. D. Wert, Carlisle, Pa., Miss Mabel Smith, Kansas City, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Briner and Mr. and Mrs. Eli Briner, Oskaloosa, Mrs. Mary Hinchman, Mr. and Mrs. John Ackley, Nortonville, and Rev. and Mrs. Holcombe, Topeka.
