Mrs. Ish was born August 6, 1899 in Shelby, Ohio and has been an area resident all of her life. Mrs. Ish was retired from the Mansfield School system having worked in the cafeteria, was a member of the South Main Street United Methodist Church, Ruth Chapter 17 of Eastern Star, North American Benefit Association, a member and past president of Daughters of Union Veterans. Surviving are, one daughter-in-law, Helen H. Ish of Columbus, Ohio, two grandchildren, Timothy and Darlene Ish of Jacksonville, Florida, Carol and Mike Roberts of New Albany, Ohio; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jennifer & Ben Roberts: Vanessa & Brandon Ish. Mrs. Ish was preceded by her parents, George and Lucelia (Hollenbaugh) Bistline, her husband, Lial L. Ish in December 1980, one son, Dr. Carl J. Ish, one brother, Carl Bistline. Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to funeral services which will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Allen E. Rose. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery."

OR: A tradition reports that he was a lieutenant in the King's Guard in London where the rules of the regiment prohibited marriage, so he eloped with Mary Bloom, a London lace maker, and came to America, settling at Falmouth (now Portland), ME.
