[14629] Sylvester was a Union Soldier. Sylvester moved to Pettis Co. after the War where he was Sheriff. Also, he was in a fight in MO and the man he was fighting with, bit off the end of his nose. He later moved back to Rush Co., IN where both he and Ann are buried with the rest of the Winchells at Little Flat Rock Cemetary.

He married, secondly, Ida FitzWalter, daughter of Robert FitzWalter, 1st Lord FitzWalter and Alianore de Ferrers, circa 1309. He died before 27 May 1335. On 10 May 1298 he had writs for livery, after doing homage. He fought in the campaign against the Scots in 1300, under King Edward I. He fought in the Scottish Wars of King Edward I and Edward II between 1300 and 1319. He was invested as a Knight on 26 August 1300. He fought in the campaign against the Scots in 1311. He was created '1st Lord Neville, of Essex [England]" on 19 December 1311. In May 1313 he was going in the King's service beyond seas. He fought in the Battle of Bannockburn on 24 June 1314. He fought in the campaign against the Scots in 1319, under King Edward II. He was a joint commissioner and inspector of arrays in counties Essex, Hertforshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Sussex between 1324 and 1326."

He m. 18 March 1856, Ellen Steihoff, b. 4 Feb 1838 at Scotland, Ontario, d. 1 Feb 1889, d/o Levi & Ann (Beemer)Steinhoff. The family is enumerated in 1891 Middleton Twp. census. A widower, he was a wagon and carriage maker. Also found in '71 Walsnigham census, a farmer, wife Ellen b. Ontario ca 1839. Family was Methodist. Issue Louks, some info from Bible of Gordon C. Locks of Turkey Point, p. 69. i. Mary Agnes, ii Alice Jane, iii Elizabeth Ann, iv George Anson, v, William Wesley, vi Nellie Bell, vii Francis E, *Alonzo b ca. 1849 enumerated with them. The book contains the birth and death dates of the children also.
