[5438] Thomas, 12th Earl, succeeded his father at about age 24. "He served on the lords' committee of reform in the Good Parlaiment in 1376, and again in 1377, and was a member of the commission of inquiry in 1379. Appointed governor to Richard II in Feb. 1381, he joined the nobles who sought to impose their authority on the king and was one of the lords appelant in 1388. After the overthrow of his party in 1389 Warwick lived in retirement, but although he had for the moment escaped Richard's vengeance he was not forgiven. Being invited with Gloucester and Arundel to a banquet at court on July 10, 1397, he alone of the three was imprudent enough to obey the summons. He was immediately arrested and imprisoned in the Tower of London, in that part of the fortress since known as the Beauchamp tower. Warwick made a full confession in parliament; his honours were forfeited and he himself banished. He was again in the Tower in 1398, but was liberated and restored to his honours on the accession of Henry IV." - Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1956 edition, 23:375. Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_de_Beauchamp,_12th_Earl_of_Warwick.
[29505] John is son of Peter Deemer (1761-1837) and Maria Susanna Hall (1769-1810).

[31538] See http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/SOUTHWELL.htm which offers: "Notes: was at court as a maid of honor by 1588/9 and in 1591 suffered from 'lameness in her leg' - she was pregnant. Thomas Vavasour took the blame for her condition and was imprisoned for misconduct. What happened to Elizabeth is unclear, other than that she gave birth to a boy named Walter (b. 1591 - d.1641) who was given to Lettice, Countess of Essex and Leicester, to be raised at Drayton Bassett. She may have returned to court, but more likely she was simply still referred to as a maid of honor. In May 1595, Queen Elizabeth learned that the father of young Walter was not Thomas Vavasour but rather Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex. The Queen was furious, not only because the child had been fathered by Essex, her on and off again favorite, but because she had been deceived. By 22 Mar 1598, when Sir Barentyne Moleyns (or Molyns, Mullens, Mullins), visited Simon Forman the astrologer, Elizabeth Southwell had agreed to marriage with Moleyns. Moleyns was almost blind, weakened by wounds hed received in service to the Queen, and 'notorious for his ugliness'. Formans records indicate disgusting health problems as well, and yet, in Apr, he was considering abandoning the match with Elizabeth if he could persuade another woman, Mary Hampden, to marry him. Then, in Jun, he had a license to marry Elizabeth Southwell, but she had apparently changed her mind. In notes made later, in 1600, Forman noted that Elizabeth Southwell had three suitors and that she was thirty years old. She was already married to Moleyns by that time, since she attended the christening of Robert Sidneys daughter Barbara in Dec 1599 as Lady Moleyns. In 1602 she gave birth to their only child, a son."
[3109] With Edward she also had Alfred, a special favorite of his father who made Alfred co-partner in the kingdom; however, Alfred died young. http://www.stephen.j.murray.btinternet.co.uk/athelstan.htm offers: "William of Malmesbury claims that Athelstan's mother, Ecgwynn, was 'an illustrious lady', however, he notes that there were stories that she and Athelstan's father, Edward, were not married, and that she was a 'shepherd's daughter, a girl of exquisite beauty'. According to William, Athelstan's alleged illegitimacy was the grounds that one Alfred used in an attempt to prevent Athelstan being crowned."
