Ridgley were held at the White House church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. Robert Morris, of Bridgeport. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Ridgley, the widow of Luther Ridgley, passed away at her home on Bridgeport Route 1 at 3:40 Monday morning. She had been in ill health for several years, due to her advanced age of 93 years, and had been seriously ill with a heart ailment for a week previous to her death. Deceased was the mother of three children - Mrs. T. J. Oney, William and Frank Ridgley. She spent the greater portion of her life in and near Bridgeport." Aside from two years in the Army in Korea, he spent his life in Sunset as co-owner and then owner of Elmer B. Eaton & son Plumbing and Heating. He served 48 years on the Memorial Ambulance Corps. Dowe loved going camping with his family, and later, as empty-nesters, he and his wife enjoyed traveling with their camper to visit family in Missouri and going to the Fryeburg Fair in Maine. He also loved raising a garden and sharing produce with friends and family. He loved reading and music on his guitar and mandolin. Dowe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Verna; his daughters Nardene (and her husband Ray) and Tanya (and her husband David) and one son, Tony (and his wife Nancy); eight grandchildren (Nannette Smith, Glenn Wiskur, Esther McCune, David McCune, Samantha Dunham, Hannah Eaton, Layla Eaton, and Lucas Eaton); and eight great-grandchildren (Sydney, Emily and Penny Smith; Eleanor and Lydia Wiskur; Rowan and Taryn McCune; Adeline and Porter Mishoe; Asher Strout; and Nora (Gray); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters (Shirley Robbins and Therese Webber), one brother (Eugene B. Eaton), two granddaughters (Erin Dunham and Sariah Lindstrom), two nephews and two nieces."
