Received via email from John Hills (ktbricks@netzero.net) 21 June 2000:
I am starting researching my Hills family and found your connection. I show Julia Hills, b. 1800-1810, married Pliny Whitcomb. Her sister Elmira married the Rev. Lewis Whitcomb. The girls father was Jesse, b. 1775 in Conn., d. 1859 Hartford, Washington Co. Mother was Hulda Standhish, b. 1777, d. 1828 in Washington County. Other siblings included Moses, b. 1807, who married Lucy Garrett and had 7 kids. This family relocated to Ontario, Canada (Belleville) with cousins out of Vermont. Other siblings include Henry, b. 1834, and Maria, b. 1800-1810.
Jesse is one of the sons of Daniel Hills (#4401 THE HILLS FAMILY IN AMERICA). He and his brothers came to Granville, New York in 1793 in part due to the early death of their father in Hartford, Conneticut. Some 100,000 people claim descent from the Hills family. A certified link allows for membership in the Daughter or Sons of the American Revolution.
We also have Samuel Hills who married Eunice and Mary Whitcomb in the Granville area; Samuel was born in Conn. to Nathan, son of Daniel Hills. Samuel and his wives had 15 children, including Lavina (1828), David I. (2), William R. (1830), Charlotte (1839), Mary (1839), Roxanne Cordellia (1841), Caroline (1843), Emily or Emma (1849), Helen (1853) and Franklin (1856).
[8872] Prudence is daughter of Elmer Hostetler (1868-1963) and Edith Lyle Bixler (1877-1955).

[13092] "New England Ancestors" Vol.5, No. 3 (summer 2004), p. 10-11: "Dinah, the daughter of Richard and Naomi Sylvester, was born in Plymouth Colony in 1642. At the age of nineteen, she falsely accused a neighbor of witchcraft, swearing she'd seen her transform into a bear. This event occurred thirty years before the Salem witchcraft hysteria and Plymouth officials were more thoughtful in their handling of the charge. Dinah's allegation is the only one on record in Plymouth and during her interrogation by the court, she admitted she'd made the whole thing up and was fined 5 pounds in court costs. The false accusation cost her a fiance who broke their engagement because of friendship with the family of the wrongly accused neighbor. Dinah sued him for damages in court and won 20 pounds - but apparently never regained his heart. Plymouth records indicate she never married and lingering rancor over the breech of promise led to other disputes between the two families. Dinah was later named in a fornication allegation and in 1669 was back in court again, this time charging another man with the paternity of her child. - Sherry Sylvester Ramsey"
