[4039] Pelagcius m. Gaudiense _____. Pelagcius was also King of Oviedo and Leon. Actually, he was a Visigothic tribal leader and a Christian, leading rebellion against the Ummayad Arabs who occupied the Iberian peninsula. He was exiled from Toledo by King Witiza and later joined King Roderick's bodyguard. The Muslim ruler of Asturias, Munuza, married Pelagcius' sister and sent Pelagcius as a hostage to Cordoba. He escaped, and was elected leader by the Christian Asturians, Visigoths and others who were fugitives from the south. The rebellion established its capital at Cangas de Onis. {-"The Reconquest of Spain," Derek W. Lomax (N.Y.: Longman, 1978, pp. 25-6.} 21st century Asturias is a small province of Spain, along the north coast of the country between Galicia and Cantábria.

[7304] Robert was probably born at Ormesby and died there between 4 June 1535 (will) and Sept., 1535 (proven). Children: John, Thomas, Margaret, Isabel and Robert. His wife was Margaret ______ who died at Ormesby between 1549 and 1553. Ref.: NEHGR 7/90, p.256; 10/87, p. 316. Margaret's family name may be Wattes; she was living in 1549 and is listed as a widow on the 1545 subsidy roll, a 1546 assessment roll, and a 1549 manorial survey (Public Records Office, E179-151/339, 348; SC12-24/5). In addition to Thomas, she and Robert had John, Margaret, Isabel and probably Agnes (listed as an inhabitant of Ormsby in 1587/8). "A History of the Moulton Family," W. O. Moulton and children of Stuart IA, 1905, reports that the earliest of this surname was Thomas Multon or DeMulton whom the Domesday Book of 1086 states was given the estate 'Galeshore'. Later Thomas Multon, called in French DeVaux, of Norman and Saxon descent, a resident of Gillesland in Cumberland, attended Richard I in the Crusades and is prominent in Sir Walter Scott's 'The Talisman.' The Magna Charta of 1215 contains the signature of another Thomas.

[4719] http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cousin/html/p80.htm offers: "King Harald Valdemarson's mother, so it is said in the Heimskringla, was "Queen Gyda the Old, a daughter of the Swedish king, Inge Steinkelson." It was his wife, Kristin, who was the daughter of King Inge Steinkelson. Haralds mother, Gytha indeed, was, rather, the daughter of King Harald II of England. Also called Harald Known by Harald in the Scandanavian sources. Holy Nobleborn GreatPrince. Mstislav I Harald Vladimirovich, Prince of Novgorod, Great Prince of Kiev was the ancestor of the Mstislavichi (a rival family of the Ol'govichi, named for Oleg, son of Svyatoslav, thus both families stemming from Yaroslav the Wise). Also called Feodor. His baptism name was Theodore. Also called St. Mstislav of Rus. He was born on 1 June 1076. He was the son of Vladimir II Monomakh Vsevolodovich, Prince of Pereyaslavl, Smolensk, Chernigov, and Kiev and Gytha of Wessex. He was sent by his grandfather, the GreatPrince of Kiev, Vsevolod, to be prince of Novgorod when he was all but twelve years old circa 1088. Co-Ruler of Novgorod, Rus, between 1088 and 1093. He occupied his appanage-land, the Rostov throne, after the death of his grandfather in 1093. Prince of Rostov, Rus, between 1094 and 1095. He married Kristina Ingesdóttir, daughter of Inge "den äldre" Stenkilsson, Konung av Sverige and Elin of Skövde, circa 1095; His 1st. He gained a brilliant victory over his uncle, the Chernigov prince Oleg, who had killed his brother Izyaslav and attacked Rostov and Suzdal', which belonged to Prince Mstislav, in 1095. Prince of Novgorod, Rus, between 1095 and 1125. He campaigned against the Chud people again, and after a victory he restored at Novgorod the fortress -- "he made guarantee of Novgorod the Great" -- and he built out more extensively the lodgings for the Novgorod principality in 1116. He was summoned by his father to assist him and was transferred to Belgorod in 1117. Prince of Belgorod, Rus, between 1117 and 1125. He married Lyubava Dmitrievna of Novgorod, daughter of Boyer of Novgorod Dmitri Zavidich Possednik, in 1122; His 2nd. He confronted the Volynian prince Yaroslav, who was attempting to seize the Kiev principality by leading against Rus' a Polish and Hungarian army in 1123. He succeeded his father to the throne of Kiev on 19 May 1125. 15th Prince of Kiev, Rus, between 19 May 1125 and 1132. He gained a brilliant victory over the old enemies of Rus' -- the Polovetsians, driving them beyond the Volga, and those of the Polovetsian princes, who refused to ally with Mstislav, were dispatched to Greece circa 1126. He set the foundations of a stone church in the name of the GreatMartyr Theodore of Tyre (his patron saint), in memory of a victory gained over the Chernigov prince Oleg in 1128. He laid the foundations of a temple in honour of the Pirogoschsk Icon of the Mother of God, this after a successful campaign against Lithuania in 1131. He died on 15 April 1132 in Kiev, Rus, at age 55 years, 10 months and 14 days. He died during the Paschal Week.18,19 Mstislav I Harald Vladimirovich, Prince of Novgorod, Great Prince of Kiev was buried in the Church of St.Feodor, Rus. . He was buried in the temple of the GreatMartyr Theodore, built by him. The holy prince was venerated even during his earthly life. The copyist of the Mstislavovo Gospel called him noble and a lover of Christ. The preparer of the settings of the Mstislavovo Gospel, Naslav, wrote about him: 'Much toil and tribulation I experienced. But God did comfort me through the prayer of the good prince... God grant his prayer for all Christians'." Cf. http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/RUSSIA,%20Rurik.htm#MstislavVladimirovichdied1132B in 2007.
