Carroll was born January 16, 1933, in Blue Hill, the only child of Howard and Etta (Bridges) Nevells. He grew up in Sedgwick and Brooklin, Maine, and graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1951. Carroll served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Morocco, Japan, and Dow A.F. Base. He was a truck driver, bookkeeper, then office manager for Tabenken Distributors in Bangor and Caribou. He worked in Lincoln as a bank manager and later as Postmaster and letter carrier in Lee and Lincoln, Maine. Carroll attended Beal College as a non-traditional student. He served as School Board President of M.S.A.D. #30 and was a charter member of Hospital Administrative District #1 Board for Penobscot Valley Hospital. Carroll was a member of Gateway Coin Club and Lincoln Congregational Church Men's Club. He and Lindsay delivered food to the Springfield Congregational Church food cupboard for 18 years. In retirement, Carroll was a flea market entrepreneur and a driver for local car dealerships. Just over a week ago, Carroll delivered a used vehicle from Mercer to Lincoln. Carroll leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Lindsay (Weatherbee) Nevells of Lee; son, Ralph and wife, Mary, of Eliot, Maine; daughter, Tracey Nute and husband, Kris, of Lee; grandchildren, Victoria Merry (Jared) of Lee, Riannon Nute of Dover, NH, Leigh Nevells of Tucson, AZ, Ian Nevells (Annie) and Nathan Nevells (Kristy) and their mother, Kim Nevells, all of Wells, Rebecca Little of So. Berwick, and Mikalah Little of Saco; two honorary grandchildren, Cory and Miranda Bowker; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Cadence, Jaxon, Bradley, Bruin, Nora, Kaledonia, and Asher. Carroll will terribly be missed by a wonderful array of friends, neighbors, and relatives."

She died about 1810 on Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine; Judith Staples was born on 07 November 1796 on Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine; Alexander Staples was born on 16 September 1798 on Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine; Washington Staples was born on 27 November 1800 in Deer Isle, Hancock County, Maine; and Benjamin Amos Staples was born on 18 June 1807 on Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine. He died in 1807 on Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine.
Note: Moses Staples, 93, son of Samuel and Mercy (Caine) Staples, was born at Deer Isle, Maine, died at Swan's Island and was buried at Rose Hill' Cemetery. Moses married Judith Eaton in about 1775 at Deer Isle. Moses and Judith had thirteen children. He served in the American Revolution - Massachusetts, Col. Wiggleworth's Regiment: his rank: Private. His occupation in civilian life: He was a ship's carpenter. Moses Staples was born on 29 September 1753 in Deer Isle, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Came to Swan's Island in 1793. Also was at Philipstown, Maine. He was a Ship's Carpenter. He died on 19 Aug 1846 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. He was buried in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic. Came to Deer Isle with parents in 1764. Moved to Swan's Island in 1793 and was the second permanant settler. Lived on York Island near Isle au Haut in 1785. Built Boats at the location that became Henry D. Joyce's shop, and later was the Swan's Island Ferry landing. Moses Staples and Judith Eaton were married before 1793 in Deer Isle, Hancock County, Maine. After Mr. Staples' marriage he went from Deer Isle to live in Sedgwick, where he remained about a year. While there their first child was born. He came back to Deer Isle. Seven children were born to them there, and after coming back to Swan's Island the remaining five were born. Mr. Staples was an active, intelligent man, who always took a great interest in the transaction of town business, and was ever foremost for public improvement. In 1844, some two years previous to his death, he very thoughtfully had a sworn statement drawn by Joshua Trask, esq., of the dates when many of the earliest settlers came, and the lots of land taken up by them. This was prompted, no doubt, by the fact that no public records had been made. This document has been a great help in making a record of his family. He accumulated considerable property which he disposed of before his death.
