[28971] "The Marysville Advocate [Marysville, Kansas], 31 July 1930," p. 11 "Funeral services were held at Waterville Wednesday morning, July 23, for Milo McPherson Rice, who passed away July 19, at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 2 davs. Rev. I. B. Heisey preached the funeral sermon and burial was made m the Cottage Hill cemetery. Milo McPherson Rice was born at Kistler, Pa., November 17, 1864. He came west as a young man and settled in Kansas. He farmed for several years and later entered the mercantile business. On May 2, 1893, Mr. Rice met with an accident which resulted in the loss of one limb, but he allowed this misfortune to handicap him very little. When his children were beginning to reach the age of university training he moved to Baldwin to educate them. Upon his return to the farm he served as township trustee for a number of years. He was a fine Christian man, having been a member of the Lutheran church from boyhood. Mr. Rice married Miss Lura E. Clark. December 1, 1886. He is survived by his wife und the following children: George Clark Rice of Los Angeles; William Fletcher and Clarence Albert Rice of Blythe, Calif.; and one adopted daughter, Mary E. Keefover of Frankfort. His 89-year-old father, five sisters and one brother also survive. Mrs. Annie Hirt of Waterville is one of the sisters."
[45960] Mary and Joseph had Louisa Alice (b. 18 January 1868 in Brooklin) & Liva May (b. 11 October 1869 in Brooklin).
