Mattern, 78, Chestnut Tower, died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday in the Sunbury Community Hospital, where she was admitted Nov. 26. Born in Shamokin Oct. 26, 1901, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Emma Kreiger Felix. Her husband of 57 years, J. Lloyd Mattern, is her only survivor. Mrs, Mattern formerly worked at Hacks Hardware Store, Shamokin. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sunbury. Formerly of Shamokin and Milton, she has lived in Sunbury since 1972. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Zweier Funeral Home, Sunbury, by the Rev. William Hartman. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington."
