[1780] His daughter, Leona, states of Starr's family: "They were a large family. My greatgrandmother on his side is said to be the first white child born in Huron County and I have two of her silver spoons. We have a history of her family, one of the first on the Western Reserve. Goes back to the 1600s." Ancestry.com states that the surname is an "English: habitational name from the city of Bristol, named in Old English with brycg 'bridge' + stow 'assembly place'. The final -l of the modern form is due to a regional pronunciation."
