She was born February 22, 1952, in Bangor, the daughter of Walter Jr. and Alberta Batson. Ellen was the proud matriarch of a large family, survived by her five sons, Mark (Christina Craveiro), Bret (Shelly Wright), Chris (Julie), Casey, and Charles Burke. She also leaves behind a granddaughter, Courtney Doughty, who was a source of immense joy in her life, along with many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ellen's quiet spirit will be remembered by her siblings, William Batson, Donna Smith, Elliott Batson, Thomas Batson, Joan Call, Ruth Johnson, Cindy Campbell, Theresa Wilbur, and Adrian Batson. She was preceded by her beloved daughter, Cathy Doughty; husband, John Spox; siblings, Gloria Frisbee, Jimmy Batson, Walter Batson III, and Frank Batson. Ellen's journey through life was one of resilience and determination. At the age of 56, she secretly earned her high school diploma, a testament of her unwavering spirit and desire for personal growth. Throughout her life, she held various jobs, including factory work, caregiver, raking blueberries, and making wreaths. Beyond her work, Ellen found joy in many hobbies that brought her happiness. She loved dancing and exploring yard sales with her partner, Don Hallett, where she often discovered treasures that she would share with her family and friends. Ellen had a special love for dancing at the Eagles Club and many other clubs. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Northern Light Hospice Team for their compassionate care, to Mark Burke for his loving 24/7 care, and to all those who visited, cooked, and prayed during Ellen's final days. Your kindness has been a source of comfort during this difficult time."
