[61358] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 27 January 2026: "David Dodge Gray passed on to new heights on Jan. 5, dying peacefully in his sleep after a long journey with Huntingtons Disease. For the past four years, he resided in a neuro/nursing home in Braintree, Mass., where he received compassionate care. David was born in Bangor to David Wallace and Edna (Dodge) Gray. He was a graduate of Bangor High School and the Butera School of Art in Boston. Since the 1970s, he lived on - and deeply loved - what had been his grandfathers farm in Penobscot, a place that inspired much of his life and work."

[14201] Gray ("Penobscot Pioneers") believes that Mainwaring is son of the first wife, who is perhaps Mary Winslow (b. by 1600, d. by 1642, m. ca. 1615). Mainwaring m. 1670 Mary Moulton (b. 25 Jan. 1651, d. Nov. 1725) - they had Magdalene Hilton (b. April, 1675, d. 4 Feb. 1725, m. in April, 1697 Elias Weare [b. 5 April 1672, d. 10 Aug. 1707]; they had Ruth Weare [b. 6 Jan. 1697, m. Oct. 1713 Moses Banks]). [Mainwaring's wife could be Mary BOULTON.] "History of York, Maine," Charles Edward Banks (Baltimore: Regional Publishing Co., 1967), Vol. 1, p. 302 includes in a section on persons captured by Native Americans " Adams, Mardalen. Daughter of Mainwaring and Mary (Moulton) Hilton and wife of Nathaniel Adams who was killed at the massacre. She was redeemed in 1695, and after her return married twice (1) Elias Weare; (2) John Webber." Cf. "The Great Migration Begins," Robert Charles Anderson (Boston: NEHGS, 1995), Vol. 2 under William Hilton.
