Robert Andrews, came from England, and settled at Ipswich, Massachusetts, early in the year 1635. The Andrews Memorial states that Capt. Andrews, came from Norwich, Norfolk County, England, early in 1635, as owner and master of ship Angel Gabriel. Richard Mather, in his narrative of his voyage in the James says, they came in company part of the way, and that many Godly people were on board the ship. This Capt. Andrews had a sister Mary, who was the wife of Robert Burnham. Their three boys, John, Thomas, and Robert Burnham, it is said, were put in charge of their uncle Andrews, master of the ship Angel Gabriel which was cast away at Pemaquid, in Maine, in a terrible storm, 15 August 1635, after which loss, Capt. Andrews settled with his nephews at Chebacco, in Massachusetts Bay. In a book entitled 'Ancient Pemaquid,' by J. W. Thornton, 1857, it says: 'On the last wednesday of May in this year (1635), the Angel Gabriel, a strong ship of 240 tons, and carrying a heavy armament of 16 guns swung at her moorings in the King's Road, four or five miles distant from the city. Her destination was Pemaquid. On her deck was a company of many Godly Christians, some from other ships, bound for New England; one of them was Richard Mather, visited there by Sir Ferdinando Georges, but the chief personage in the company was John Cogswell, a London merchant of wealth who with the fragments of his freight, and accompanied by his servants, settled at Ipswich.' In the fury of an easterly storm the ship with her cargo were totally lost; some of the passengers not escaping death, most notably the Blaisdell family. This shipwreck is chronicled as one of the greatest disasters in the annals of Pemaquid."

[29121] Christian's obituary in The Herald of Truth: "Christian B., son of Benjamin and Mary Hursh Brenneman, was born in Wayne Co., O., April 17, 1842, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sohpia Shenk, near Elida, Ohio, Oct. 21, 1927; aged 85 y. 6 m. 4 d. He was baptized and received in the Mennonite Church in 1863 by bishop Abraham Rohrer. On June 2, 1863, he was married to Susanna Brenneman of Allen Co., O., with whom he lived in matrimony for 61 years, she having preceded him in death August 15, 1924. To this union were born three daughters --Sophia E. (married to Isaac Shenk), Lydia M. (deceased), and Mary C. (Married to Charles Brenneman). Besides his two daughters he leaves two brothers (Adam and Abraham) and two sisters (Mrs. Abraham Huntsburger and Mrs. David Hilty). He also leaves seventeen grandchildren and forty-one great-grandchildren. Bro. Brenneman moved to Allen Co., Ohio, in the fall of 1868. In Jan. 1871, he was ordained to the ministry at the Sherrick (now Salem) church near Elida, Ohio, by Bishop George Brenneman. In this calling he served the Church faithfully as long as health permitted. He was a pioneer in evangelistic efforts in the Mennonite Church, traveling extensively in that work, and doubtless many people in many parts of the church cherish the fond recollection that thru his untiring efforts, and the mighty power of God accompanying his mighty voice, they were led to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. He was much concerned about the welfare of the Church, and labored earnestly that the Church might remain true to the faith of our fathers and be kept free from the entanglements of worldliness in all its forms. Our departed brother bore his last illness with patience and resignation and repeatedly expressed his desire to go home. The funeral was held at the Salem Church on the afternoon of Oct. 23. Prehaps only twice in the history of the Salem Church did a larger number of people assemble at that place, and witness the laying to rest of a body in the Salem Cemetery. Services were conducted by Geo. Ross, and assisted by G. H. Brunk, P. E. Brunk, J. B. Smith and David Good (home ministers) and S. G. Shenk of Continental, Ohio, and Andrew Shenk of Oronogo, Mo."

He was born Dec. 8, 1925, in Charleston, son of Perley and Dorothy (Hanson) Strout. Dwight worked for many years as a machinist for Fay & Scott. A member of the Pony Pulling Association, he was a pony pulling enthusiast, and enjoyed traveling the circuit of fairs in Maine. In addition to his loving wife of 68 years, Frances, Dwight is survived by five daughters, Rachel Berce, Beverly LaCroix and husband, Larry, Joanne Sincyr and husband, Jack, Lindy Warren and Cindy Curran and husband, Peter; 10 grandchildren, Eric, Dawn, Debbie, David, Dani, Jason, Billy, Nicole, Becky and Ryan; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Carr. He was predeceased by daughter, Donna Mallett; brother, Charles Strout; and sister, Marjorie Greene."
