[59153] Jean's obituary: "Penobscot - Jean E. Devereux passed peacefully at The House of Comfort, Presque Isle, on January 27, 2025. She was born September 9, 1934, the daughter of Colin and Evelyn Maloney Darrell, in Worcester, MA. Jean is survived by three daughters, Audrey Peasley of Brooksville, Andrea Devereux of Penobscot, and Allayne Snowden of Deer Isle; a sister, Evelyn Hill of Worcester, MA. She was predeceased by son, Charles Devereux Jr. (Susan) of Ft. Pierce, FL. Jean's fourteen grandchildren include Diane Harmon (Brent), Berwyn Peasley Jr. (Linda), Debra Werts (Wayne), Christine Doyle, Kathleen Doyle, James R. Doyle, Dennis Doyle, Patrick Doyle (Heather), Audrey Snowden (Moya), Beverly Williams (Will), Elizabeth Devereux, Merle Devereux, Brian Devereux (Angie), and Michelle Devereux. She leaves fifteen great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren, godchildren, nieces and nephews, all who were loved deeply by Jean. She also leaves her dear friend, Cyndy Willis of Penobscot. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Devereux. Jean will be remembered for the countless hours she gave to others, volunteering at Blue Hill Hospital, promoting hospice in the area, cooking for church suppers and functions, and being a willing sitter for the many grandchildren and friends. Her culinary skills included her incredible mac and cheese dish! She was a member of both the American and Maine Hospital Association, Blue Hill Hospital Auxiliary, Hospice of Blue Hill, Castine Grange, Castine Women's Club, Dr. Mary Cushman Circle, and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation to name a few of the organizations with which she was associated. A celebration of life will be held at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Castine on April 19 at 1 p.m. with a reception following the service. The committal will be at the family cemetery in Penobscot, on June 6."
[46100] An unverified tree in 2020 in Ancestry.com states Eliza is daughter of Henry DeForest (1780-1824) & Sarah B. Woodworth (1782-1839).
