Farnham of Portland and Mrs. Walter Hodgden of South Blue Hill; four half-brothers, Freeman Guy F. and Harry C. Closson of Ellsworth, and Irving Closson of Easton; two half-sisters, Mrs. Walter Wills, Cochituate, Mass. and Mrs. Walter Kelly, Ellsworth; two grandchildren, Mrs. George C. McKay, Jr., Bar Harbor and Donald L. Higgins of Ellsworth; and one great-grandchild, George C. McKay 3d, Bar Harbor." Hess, aged 69 years, 10 months and 21 days, died at his farm at Stony Point, Monday afternoon, of a heart condition, following a period of ill health. He was a son of William and Mary Ann Boyd Hess and lived his entire life in the vicinity in which he died. He was a member of the Stony Point Evangelical church. Survving him are his wife, Mrs. Ida Hollenbaugh Hess, a son, Clarence, at home and four brothers and sisters: David Hess, Sandy Point; Reuben Hess of Sandy Hill; Mrs. Ellen Mumper of Bainbridge, Lancasier county, and Mrs. Mary Boston, of Marietta. Brief funeral services will be held at the residence, Thursday at 10 a. m., with further service in the Stony Point church at 10.30 a. m., and burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church."

George Hutzell adhered closely to the Lutheran religion in Frederick County, contributing to the purchas of the first church book in 1742, signing Pastor Muhlenberg's 'Articles' of 1747 and having his first five children, Susanna, George Jr., Johannes, Johann Peter and Johann Matthaus, baptized by Lutheran pastors during the period 1743-1753. On October 19, 1743 John George Hutzell and his father-in-law George Sweinhart took communion from Pastor Candler preparatory to their naturalization. Hutzell received the patent for 'Markley's Purchase' in 1756 with its beginning point near the corner of George Swinehart's 'George and Margaret'. George Hutzell died on May 2, 1778. Probably of a stroke while enroute to (Matthias) Ringer's gouse. His widow Magdalena died in June 1788, survived by ten of their twelve children. Johann Peter Hutzell b. 20 Nov 1750 in Monocacy Valley, Frederick Co. Md, d. 4 jan 1820 in Frederick Co. Md. His wife was Elizabeth, grandson of Johann George Hutzell and Anna Maria Magdalena Schweinhardt. . . . A son Johann Peter Hutzell b. 10 Nov 1775 in Long Dispute End, Middletown, Frederick Co. Md. and died Greenville, Somerset Co. Pa. Another son Johann George Hutzell b. 19 Feb 1777 in Middletown, Frederick Co. Md d. 1841 Greenville Twp. Sommerset Co. Pa. He m: Elizabeth Michaels 14 Nov 1799 in Middletown, Md. Had 8 children including Jonas Hutzel b. 8 Apr 1821 in Sommerset Co. Pa. m: Margaret Engle."
