[47578] Find A Grave memorial 138657751 offers Jim's obituary: "James Ernest Hutchins Jr. passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was 88 years old. Jim was born April 11, 1926 in Bucksport, Maine to James and Esther (Leach) Hutchins. He graduated as salutatorian of the Bucksport High School class of 1944 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He served in the Artillery Corp. and was honorably discharged. Jim graduated from Husson College with a degree in Business Administration and in September 1949 married his high school sweetheart, Doris Arlene Rosebush, also from Bucksport. In 1950 they moved to Bethel, Maine and Jim began work as the office manager of P.H. Chadbourne Co. where he held the position for forty years until he retired. In 1950 Jim and Doris gave birth to a son, David Michael Hutchins and in 1953 had their second child, a daughter, Susan Esther Hutchins. Jim was an avid reader and loved to work crossword puzzles. He was a hard worker and those who knew him experienced his good sense of humor. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family. Jim was a 33rd degree Shriner and a member of the Congregational Church of Bethel. He is predeceased by his first wife, Doris Rosebush Hutchins, his second wife Martha Kier Hutchins, and his third wife, Jean Mills Hutchins. He is also predeceased by a brother, Stuart, and a sister, Ellen. He is survived by his son David and his wife Vicki, of Chelsea, Maine and daughter Susan, of West Bethel, Maine, his grandchildren Robin and husband Ben of Culver City, California and Matthew and wife Angela, of Farmingdale, Maine. Jim has five great grandchildren, Allison, Paige, Abigail, Kamdyn and Logen, and two great great grandchildren, Jayden and Zoey. He is also survived by his sister Judith and husband Dick Gross and their daughters Beth, Karen and Leslie."

Engineer and gunner. Third son and fifth child of Thomas (1532-1584) by his second wife Alice daughter of Edmund Cranmer, brother of Archbishop Thomas Cranmer.
In his pedigree entered in the 1634 visitation of Hertfordshire he listed himself as son of Thomas' first wife, Margaret, but according to Mr. Waters (Chesters of Chichley) she died without issue in 1568.
Robert studied engineering and gunnery under John Reinolds, Master Gunner of England and through his influence was made a master gunner in the royal service.
One March 11 1624 he received the grant of a gunners room in the Tower and on 26 September 1627 he was sent to Plymouth in the capacity of engineer to await the arrival of the Earl of Holland and to accompany him to the isle of Rhé and in the same year was granted the post of Engineer of the Tower of London for life.
Robert married Anne daughter of Robert Heare or Hare and by her had three sons and 2 daughters. He died in 1635, his will was dated 28th January 1634/5 and proved that February 19th.
