Jean Mayo-Lakatos (jmayolak@tampabay.rr.com) shared in 2003: "This Joseph Mayo's line of descent was Joseph Mayo (John, Capt. Samuel Mayo, Rev. John Mayo.)Joseph Mayo, who married Abigail Myrick, was the son of John Mayo, who was born in 1656 in Oyster Bay, L.I., N. Y. This John Mayo married Hannah Freeman on April 14,1681. She was the daughter of Major John Freeman(Edmund,Edmund)and Mercy(Prence)Freeman. She was born in 1665 in Eastham, Mass. She died in Harwich on Feb. 15,1743/4. Her husband, John Mayo, father of your Joseph Mayo, died in Harwich on Feb. 1,1726. He was born when his father, Capt. Samuel Mayo, was in Oyster Bay. Then he lived in Boston when his father moved them there to be close to his own father, Rev. John Mayo, while he was a minister there. John Mayo then lived in Hingham and then moved to Harwich in 1705 in the section now called Brewster. He left a part of his homestead farm to his son, "your" Joseph. He left land on Long Island, N. Y. to Joseph's brother, Samuel. This John Mayo was in Hingham in 1681 and in Harwich in 1705. He was representative of the General Court for 6 years, and town treasurer for 3 years. The inscription on his tombstone, which I have seen personally, is: "Son of Capt. Samuel and grandson of Rev. John Mayo." His children with Hannah Freeman were:
1. Hannah: b. Jan. 8,1682 in Hingham, Mass. She married Judah Hopkins.
2. John: b. Jan. 8,1683 or May10,1691 in Hingham, Mass. There is a discrepancy here. I would go with the latter date because it comes from Hingham Town Records. He married Susanna Freeman.
3. Samuel: b. July 16,1684 in Hingham, Mass.
4. Mercy: b. Apr. 23,1688in Hingham, Mass. She married Nathaniel Hopkins.
5. Rebecca: b. 1690/1692. . . discrepancy. . . Hingham, MA town records say she was b. there on Sept. 18,1692. She married Ebenezer Paine.
6. Mary: b. Oct. 26,1694. . . hard to read. . . in Hingham, Mass. She married Joseph Hopkins.
7. Elizabeth: b. July16,1706 in Harwich, Mass. She married Ebenezer Nickerson.
8. Joseph: b. Dec. 22,1696 in Hingham, Mass. His dates of death are varied. He died in Harwich in 1773/74. He married Abigail Myrick in Harwich on Feb. 20,1717/18. Abigail was the daughter of Benjamin Myrick(William, William) and Rebecca Doane(Daniel, John). Benjamin was the son of William and Abigail(Hopkins)Myrick. This William, son of William and Rebecca Merrick, was b. Sept. 15,1643 and died Oct. 30,1732 at Harwich. He was married to Abigail, daughter of Giles and Catherine(Whelden)Hopkins, on May23,1667.
Joseph Mayo and his wife, Abigail Myrick, were admitted to the church in North Harwich on July 15,1722. Joseph was a farmer, selectman, and was chosen Deacon on Mar. 9,1739/40 in Harwich.
The children of Joseph Mayo and Abigail Myrick were:
1. Joseph: b. Nov. 11,1718 in Harwich. He married Sarah Cobb.
2. Lydia: b. Mar. 23,1722 in Harwich. She married a man named Baxter.
3. Thomas: b. Apr. 1,1725 in Harwich. He married Elizabeth Ring.
4. Abigail: b. Dec. 1,1727 in Harwich. She married Elkanah Freeman.
5. Elizabeth: b. Mar. 28,1731 in Harwich and died in infancy.
6. Elizabeth: twin: b. Mar. 28,1733 in Harwich. It does not appear that she ever married.
7. Isaac: twin: b. Mar. 28,1733 in Harwich. He married Margaret Daggett.
8. Nathan: b. Apr. 5,1736 in Harwich. He married Anna Freeman.
9. Eunice: b. Apr. 7,1738 in Harwich. She married Deacon Nathan Winslow.
10. Moses: b. Feb. 1,1721 in Harwich. Baptized Aug. 5,1722 in Harwich. Died 1812. He married Phebe Freeman on Mar. 10,1742 in Harwich. She was the daughter of Watson and Sarah (Gray) Freeman. Watson Freeman (Edmund, Thomas, John, Edmund, Edmund). Phebe Freeman was b. June 1,1725 and died in Harwich on Jan. 6,1791. Moses Mayo and his brother, Thomas, were seamen on the Brigantine "Independence" in 1776. According to Harwich First Parish records,on Oct. 15,1779,Phebe Mayo, wife of Moses Mayo, "had been accused of soliciting a young woman in a clandestine manner to take from the house in which the young woman lived cotton, wool, and other articles and to bring the stolen articles to her. At first Phebe Mayo solemnly denied it, and then made a public confession of her sin and asked forgiveness and was restored to the church's charity." The children of Moses Mayo and Phebe (Freeman) Mayo were:
1. Phebe: bapt. in Harwich on Sept. 3,1758 and must have died by 1759.
2. Moses: b. May 24,1746; bapt. in Harwich on Sept. 3,1758; and died in Ludlow, Vermont on Nov. 1,1838.

[My source for the above info is "The Genealogy of Rev. John Mayo" by E. Jean Mayo.]
[39937] http://www.wikitree.com offers in 2015: "Thomas 'Seaman' Ridley Sr. Born about 1685 in Atlantic Ocean. Son of Mark Ridley and [mother unknown]. Brother of Ann (Ridley) Knowles and Elizabeth (Ridley) Snow. Husband of Mary Strout - married August 3, 1708 in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Father of Mary (Ridley) Sparks, Ann Ridley, Ann (Ridley) Fish, Thomas Ridley, James Ridley SR, Sarah (Ridley) Dyer, John Ridley, Mark Ridley, Thankful (Ridley) Smalley, Elizabeth (Ridley) Lombard and Deborah (Ridley) Newcomb. Died August 28, 1767 in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Biography: Thomas was the son of Captain Mark Ridley of Northumberland, England. Captain Ridley, whom some say sailed from Truro, Cornwall, made several trans-Atlantic trips between England and the newly-established Plymouth Colony in the 17th Century. Family tradition says that his son Thomas was born on a voyage to New England with Captain Ridley and his wife. Thomas is said by some to have been their only child while others say he had 2 sisters: Mary (b. 1671) and Elizabeth (b. 1678, who married John Snow, Jr.). They may have been half sisters as no proven reference to Mark Ridley's wife (or wives) has been found. According to other sources Thomas Ridley was born in Truro, Massachusetts (Barnstable), in or about 1685. On August 5, 1706, Thomas Ridley married Martha Strout of Eastham, Massachusetts. Their first daughter, named Mary, was born March 12, 1707, just seven months later. The Ridleys had 10, children including four sons. Thomas Ridley died in August 1767 of smallpox and was buried in an isolated grave near Truro, Massachusetts. The original grave site is lost but a modern commemorative headstone, said to have been copied from the original, states that he died in his 82nd year. Burial site is the Old North Cemetery, Truro, Barnstable County, Massachusetts." Also see See "History of the Ancient Ryedales, and their Descendants in Normandy, Great Britain, Ireland, and America, from 860 to 1884," Gideon Tilbbetts Rildon (Manchester, NH: pub. by the author, 1884), p. 536. Ancestry.com offers: "Ridley Name Meaning - English: habitational name from any of various places in England so named, especially the one in Northumberland, which, like that in Cheshire, is derived from Old English geryd 'channel' + leah 'wood', 'clearing'. Those in Essex and Kent appear in Domesday Book as Retleia and Redlege respectively, and get their names from Old English hreod 'reed' + leah. Possibly also an altered spelling of German Riedel or Riedler (see Ridler)."
