Mrs. Rice was a daughter of the late Isaac and Julia Stambaugh, North Codorus township. Her husband died 12 years ago. She was a life-long member of the Reformed congregation of St Peters (Lischeys) Union Church. The following survive: Two sons, Charles Rice, Spring Grove R. D. 2, and John Rice, York; five daughters, Mrs. Mellie Eline, Porters Sideling; Mr. Edward Shaffer, Spring Grove R. Henry was a farm laborer r. Clinton Twp., Knox Co., OH with a $400 "estate" in the 7 July 1870 federal census. Henry died a pauper in the Knox Co., Ohio Infirmary. He told the census-taker in 1880 that his parents were born in Pennsylvania. Ancestry.com offers: "Wise Name Meaning - English: nickname for a wise or learned person, or in some cases a nickname for someone suspected of being acquainted with the occult arts, from Middle English wise wise (Old English wis).
