Josephine's obituary: "Mrs. Josephine de Vresse de Solis, daughter of a French nobleman and widow of Don Pedro de Solis, late Consul-General of Spain in New Orleans, died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles G. Cobb, 2030 Calhoun Street. Mrs. de Solis, who was 68 years old, had been ill for several weeks. A native of New Orleans, she was the daughter of Sieur Louis Constant Gillet de Vresse, scion of a noble French family which had settled in this city.
Mrs. de Solis was a widow by a first marriage of Dr. Frederick Germain Sahuque', New Orleans dental surgeon. She married Don Pedro de Solis, Spanish Consul in this city, who was given the title of Consul-General in 1896. At the outbreak of the Spanish-American War, Mr. and Mrs. de Solis, who had divided their residence between New Orleans and Havana, Cuba, went to Quebec, Canada, where Don Pedro was transferred by his government. They returned here after a few years. Don Pedro died in 1901. Mrs. de Solis was widely known in New Orleans diplomatic circles. Mrs. de Solis is survived by Mrs. Cobb and four grandchildren, Mrs. Robert Harrison, Charles G. Cobb Jr., and Mildred and Sherman Cobb; and one stepson, E.J. Solis, professor of languages at the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio."
