[61634] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 11 May 2023: "Georgetown, KY - Laurence E. 'Larry' Richard of Georgetown, Kentucky, passed peacefully on February 14, 2023, after a long illness at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born April 18, 1933, in Old Town, the son of Edward J. and Frances (Lounsbury) Richard Sr. He was raised in Lincoln, where his parents lived on Libby Street and later moved to an apartment over to the Main Street I.G.A. where his father worked as a meat cutter. The family later moved to Mattawamkeag, where his parents opened Richard's I.G.A. He graduated from Mattawamkeag High School and then went to further his education at Husson College. He graduated in 1956 and held the position as class president. After college he briefly taught school in Fort Fairfield, before starting a lifelong career in the insurance business. He began that career in Lincoln, and later moved to Leominster, Massachusetts. After his father passed he moved back to Lincoln, until he was offered a promotion and the moved to Clinton, Massachusetts. At the end of his career he moved to Kentucky, retiring in 2003. While living in Lincoln, he was active at St. Mary's Catholic Church, serving on the parish council and holding the office of president of the council for a time. During his retirement years in Kentucky, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels, delivering food to the aged and needy. He is fondly remembered by his children for lecturing them that, honesty is the best policy, and reminding them that was coming from an insurance salesman. During his life he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, watching games on T.V. with his brother-in-law, Tom Cahill and father, Eddie Richard. After moving to Massachusetts, he attended many games at Fenway Park. Upon retiring in 2003 he set out upon his goal to attend a game in every major league ballpark in the county. He completed this goal on May 19, 2006, at Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners. He was predeceased by his first life, Mildred C. (Cyr) Richard; his son, Mark L. Richard; grandson, Joseph Nedobity; and sister, Beverly 'Birdie' Lemieux. He is survived by his second wife, Sue C. Richard; daughter, Cynthia M. Singer; son, Scott L. Richard; grandchildren, Jason Nedobity, Emily Singer, Sarah Richard, Mark C. Richard, Eric Richard, Jessica Kosobud; as well as five great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Constance M. Cahill, Barbara J. Fletcher, Edward J. 'Ricky' Richard Jr., and Gregory A. Richard."
