"The Marysville [Kansas] Advocate, 3 June 1976," p. 6: "Charles Everett Hirt, 81, Waterville, died May 23 at Community Memorial Hospital. Services were conducted May 25 from St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Waterville, with the Rev. Martin C. Ashley officiating. Interment was in Cottage Hill Cemetery at Waterville with arrangements by Youngberg. . . . Hirt, the son of Andrew and Annie Hirt, was born Jan. 26, 1895, near Cottage Hill. At an early age he was baptized and confirmed in the English Lutheran Church at Cottage Hill. Later his membership was transferred to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Waterville. After completing his education at Pleasant Hill and Keystone schools, he farmed with his father. He married Helga M. Lindquist Nov. 28, 1918. They made their home on the family farm until April 1971, when they moved to Waterville. Hirt had lived on the same farm 70 years. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, George, who died at age 4, and a sister, Minnie Alice Rodocker, who died in 1917. Survivors are his widow of the home; his sons, Gail, Charles Jr. and Don, all of Waterville; 4 grandchildren and two nieces."
