[32123] "History of Stark County, Volume I", Herbert T.O. Blue, reports "Samuel Woods operated a large tannery; he was succeeded by his son J.B. Woods." The unverified Ancestral File # 8JJM-JD provides Samuel and his wife and offers: "According to entries in a bible owned by John H. Hilbish of Akron, OH, he was b. 9 May 1797 and d. 20 Feb 1828. He m. Sophia Boal 2 May ____ The record then says '(children perhaps)' and lists Mary M. and John Boal Woods' names birth/death dates and then lists Samuel's second wife and their children. (Doc. #662)." Vivian (nee Myers) Harig wrote: "The Woods family came from England and settled in Lancaster, Pa. and later Greenville, Pa. They came into Ohio in the Ashtabula County area and then south to Hudson and Stark County. Several are buried in Uniontown in the Woods Cemetery."
