Samuel and Mary moved to Port Royal, PA and on 1 March 1865 to Ohio, settling on a farm near Uniontown. The 1850 federal census lists them and their children in Middle Creek Twp., Union (now Snyder) Co., PA and states Samuel owned 1200 acres. The 1870 federal census lists the family in Springfield Twp., Summit Co., OH.

Archer of Stetson; five daughters, Jackquelyn Tardiff of Brewer, Kathleen Underhill of Stetson, Lorraine A. Thibodeau of Levant, Theresa Gray of Stetson, and Carol F. LaPlant of Stetson; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several cousins.
